Latest subject of a Drew Sharp "Must" column? Kevin Grady

Sharp plays Mr. Obvious with this gem.

Rich Rod must make an example of Kevin Grady | Freep.com | Detroit Free Press

Headline?

Rich Rod must make an example of Kevin Grady

Then the dull one goes on about how Carr could keep things under wraps but rr has a history with former players and needs to act.

This is a perfect softball. Grady is umaa's #1 rated recruit in 2005. Carr finds out not not only Grady doesn't look like the dominant player he was in HS , he can't hold on to the football like Hart. Two really bad things for a hyped recruit. Car's dream of a 1-2 punch melted with every fumble. Every year Grady slipped in the depth chart and then last year was injured. Grady's position with the team is just above walk-on status and is costing umaa a scholarship.

Grady has helped himself get set up to be the perfect patsy for rr to revoke his scholarship under the guise of running a tight ship when it has been whispered that rr was looking for a way to trim players like Grady off the roster but with Boren leaving for OSU, rr couldn't risk the bad press of running off a player coming off an injury.

So your saying Grady was washed up and this serves as RR's opportunity to dump him? Interesting theory.

I think this is indeed a "softball" for the new hillbilly-in-chief, but, oh boy, I can`t wait to see the reaction from Mr. Grady (the meat-head, psychopath that seeded the two Colin Powell wannabes) if the kid does get his scholarship revoked.

I mean E. GR and then UM? Good Lord, the guy has tried everything to get his sons from the field to the house.

Bingo

rr has little need for a slower RB who has a history of fumble problems.

You can't have a better subject for a "being tough" dog and pony show.

I'm guessing that Grady's punishment will be related to the results of his physical. If he hasn't recovered from last year's injury, he'll be "suspended" for "disciplinary" reasons.

Floyd was famous for non-punishment punishments (e.g., suspending Manningham for the EMU game instead of a Big Ten game.) Time will tell if Rodriguez is cut from the same cloth.

So if rr keeps Grady, rr is a jerk

If rr gets rid of Grady, rr is a jerk.

About as logical as your political arguments

If rr keeps him he gets seen as being soft.

Grady put himself in the position of being a sacrificial lamb.

To tough to think that one out?

I hope you don't misinterpret the political arguments of others as badly as you misinterpreted GRR's point here. Nowhere did he say that RR would be a jerk if he got rid of Grady. He said that RR needs an opportunity to prove he's a tough disciplinarian, and Grady, by being a seemingly washed-up player who made a huge error in judgment, has handed RR that opportunity.

The ideal situation would be sending his ******* to jail for 90 days. He'll be in jail for a good part of the season

scUMers from the Fort disagree with you. Here's some gems I've ran across...

60 days of running stairs at 6AM.

That's significantly harsher than a one-game suspension, although running stairs might sound soft to the public..

Not to get off the topic of Grady...but...I just watched the highlight tape of Antonio Bass . I remember how hard we recruited him, and he almost came here. He would definitly be starting for us, either at WR or maybe QB this year. Instead, he goes to SCum and blows out his knee bad. Is the guy even on their roster anymore?

I believe he is on a medical schollie now since his injury won't allow him to return. Too bad, he's a nice kid.

I actually asked this in the recruiting form a couple months back.

The UM faithful informed me that the class isn't a huge bust, its just a lot of those kids are O-lineman that we will start to recognize this year.

Just trying to clear it up, but it looked like a bust to me too

Here are their current depth chart positions according to Rivals at
College Player Database - Depth Chart

Pretty good haul on OL & DL, but huge bust outside of Manningham at the skill positions. With half the class not even on the depth chart, including the only 5* & five 4*'s, I'd say this is not even a top 20 class 3 years later.

Rivals really should do some in depth 5-year class analysis.

Antonio Bass ATH **** - Out
Carson Butler DE *** - 1st TE - RS Jr
Andre Criswell RB ** - 3rd DT - RS Jr
Jason Forcier QB *** - Out
Eugene Germany DE **** - Out
Kevin Grady RB ***** - 3rd RB - RS Jr
Brandon Harrison DB **** - 1st S - Sr
Brandon Logan LB *** - Out
Mario Manningham WR **** - Pro
Tim McAvoy OL 6-6 *** - 1st OG - RS Jr
James McKinney DT **** - Out
Chris McLaurin DE *** - Out
Zoltan Mesko K *** - 1st P - RS Jr
David Moosman OL **** - 1st C - RS Jr
Mark Ortmann OL *** - 1st OT - RS Jr
Chris Richards ATH *** - Out
LaTerryal Savoy WR *** - 2nd WR - RS Jr
Justin Schifano OL **** - Out
Johnny Sears DB *** - Out
Mister Simpson RB *** - Out
Marques Slocum OL **** - Out
Terrance Taylor DT **** - 1st NT - Sr
Cory Zirbel OL **** - 1st OG - RS Jr
