With all due respect, you've got to be ****ing kidding me. The book has been universally lauded as one of the great debut novels in modern history. The praise for it when it came out (late 70's) was almost exclusively superlative.
That book is one of the best I've personally ever read - I've read it something like eight or nine times over the years. If you're mature enough to see past the fact that the protagonists are rabbits (yeah, I know,
seems pretty wack), it's just a fantastic adventure novel. The author (Richard Adams) also successfully creates a believable mythology, linguistics, and culture... for rabbits. Plus there's one of the most badass villains I've ever read in any piece of literature.
All that said, the movie sucks. It couldn't hold the book's jock if it used both hands.
