Yeah that's what I've heard...drove by it and looked like it was happening.
They were talking on Sunday in the papers up there about doing it again next year with two times the amount of people.
Now, after two deaths and these lawsuits I'd say it is all over.
The fact that there are more than one multi-million dollar suits tells me there is fire not just smoke. If that's the case, no more festival.

Pretty good timing by the bank. Now that Double JJ has some money, time to hit 'em up for some of it.
I'm pretty sure that Rothbury is independent of this ranch though, so it's not as if Rothbury organizers couldn't find another site for the festival next summer.
Have they figured out how the two people died yet?

No, it was created by the resort and some promoters. It might continue, but won't be anywhere in Rothbury from what I've heard from locals.
As for the people that died, all I've heard is that the autopsy results weren't released yet.

That's too bad. Seems like they (the concert organizers) should've made plenty of money off of the festival, so it was a good idea at least. Given how successful things seemed to go, I'd be surprised if it didn't return in some form or another, even if the resort is under new ownership.

It probably grossed over $8 million.
That's before booking costs, production riders, vendors, and technicians...
The banks aren't going to get any $$$

Exactly..something like this is not cheap to pull together...just look at what they'd have to pay the musicians alone.

Even if the JJ is going down, whoever is promoting it can find another site. I think MI will see another festi next year of the same magnitude in another locale.

One died from starvation when he forgot to eat while listening to an extended jam session . The second took an errant hackysack to the larynx . Total freak accident.

Rothbury got killed, that is no surprise. But I do think it could come back, likely not till '09 at least

I agree though. No way in hell does another Rothbury happen until next summer at the earliest.

I don't know if this will kill it or not. I'm sure they made a decent amount from the festival. Not a ton, but probably a respectable amount. I'm sure they can plea to the court they need time to pay these debts because the payout from future festivals has the potential to be huge. And with the right amount of interest, I'm sure the bank would be willing to wait if they know the ranch will get paid from an even bigger Rothbury over the coming years.

eggzactly
besides, even if the banks forclose they would have to sell the land to somebody
odds are whoever buys it would do so with the intention of using the festival to make money
just some scum bag trying to rain on the parade - whatelse is new around here

I'm thinking it's very likely that there will be a Rothbury '09 at the Double J.

The festival was one last shot at raising money to keep the wolf from the door.
If the owners don't pay off the musical acts they might not ever have to go to court because they will be dead long before the next bankruptcy hearing

You are all incorrect. The double JJ money problems are no problem for $18bln. AEG Live. They knew this was coming long before they inked the festival deal. I know a VP from AEG Live. This is a non-issue. Lipsitz's issues are his. I would imagine a short sale... but you will have to think about who the buyer would be.
Double JJ is NOT responsible for paying the acts... Madison House and AEG are and they are ALL PAID.
Research AEG live then maybe read this:
