Off-topic Moving to Ann Arbor looking for some advice

Moving to Ann Arbor at the end of the month, wondering if anyone has any advice on apartments as the only thing I have heard is do not get anything east of 23. What are the good places to eat or watch games in town?

Any other advice would be appreciated.

Nothing wrong with east of 23 unless you are scared of minorities.

Ann Arbor isn't that bad of a town once you get past the maize and blue presence.

If you're looking to meet men, as close to campus as possible.

East of 23 are going to be cheaper and more affordable apartments. It's Ypsilanti and not Ann Arbor however. Which I suppose you could rationalize as not supporting UofM or something.

As far as watching games, have to give a shout out for the Arena again as it's a Spartan owned sports bar in downtown AA. The guys that own the place will always put games on for you.

There are an abundance of good places to eat downtown. Hit Main and walk around.

He didn't say that he was moving downriver. 'Necks typically can't afford to live in AA...and they certainly don't hang out there unless it's a football Saturday.

Yeah I have definitely seen the price difference when looking online ($700 a month vs $1000) but a lot of the reviews online say the crime is bad. But some people's definition of "bad crime" and mine are two different things. Will have to check out the Arena when I arrive

Depends on the part of Ypsi. You might have some more petty crap over there. I've known plenty of people who have lived "east of 23" and had no problems. The reputation is worse than the area.

Crime is definitely not bad unless you're living in a ghetto. Some of the places off Carpenter just east of 23 (literally 50 yards away from Ann Arbor City Limits) are fine. I lived in a complex called "The Pines of Cloverlane" off Michigan and 23 for about 5 years after State. I think it may be a little too expensive now.

This may be something up your alley.

Spruce Knob

Prices listed $705-815. Nothing but great reviews. It's in Ann Arbor too.

Honestly, it's like any other area. There aren't UofM love parades every week. People don't go around wearing head-to-toe Maize and Blue. The only time you'd be ****ed is if you want to go to student bars...and then you actually have to interact with those people.

If you're interested in paying $100 less per month for the same apartment, then move east of 23.

There's nothing wrong with that area and anyone who would tell you otherwise is a typical AA yuppy who hasn't stopped sucking off of mommy and daddy's teet yet.
