I still don't see them going with him on the goal line. Maybe they would go with a Leggett or a Winston if they don't use Ringer, but I just don't see them running the ball with Hawken.

Won't be Leggett unless he's learned to secure the ball a whole lot better, and Winston will probably redshirt.
I guess we'll just have to see.

All reports are that Leggett had a broken wrist, contributing to the fumble problems. And some insiders have said they won't be surprised if Winston gets PT this year.

BINGO!
Also, don't discount the possibility that Ringer may stay in on the goal line this year. You don't NEED to be a bruiser to be effective on the goal line. All you need is a little crack to get through.

At this point, the coaches trust Hawken a hell of a lot more than Leggett or Winston.

I hadn't heard that about Ashton.....makes sense. He didn't have the problem in high school apparently.
And I know folks have been raving about Glenn....and he looked real good in the practice sessions that were on BTN. I honestly think he'd be the best option for short yardage/goal line IF Hawken doesn't get it.....but something just says 'Tom Rathman' to me about the guy.

The coaches said they could see Hawken as a short yardage back. They've talked to him about it.
However, I should have said, I think that the coaches have more faith in Hawken.

We won't have one. Guys like him don't come around that often.
My sleeper, though, is Andre Anderson.

Adams may return punts. I'd be surprised if he did kickoffs. As far as camp goes, Dell was the #1 PR and Keshawn was #2.

In all fairness though, they've been very vague about the whole #2 RB and short yardage back situation. They've probably talked to several guys. I honestly feel that we won't have a "short yardage" guy this year and Ringer will see more carries near the goal line.

This is my hope, it means Hoyer is going through his progressions and not locking onto any one WR.
As far as who steps up, I'd love to see Ringer have a Heisman type year, that just launches recruiting!

O: Charlie Gantt will have a better season than Kellen Davis did, AND be a more consistent blocker. 600 yards, 9 TDs
D: My spartan Eric Gordon. 100 tackles, 5 sacks, 3 INts, 7 PBU, 15 total tackles for loss.
ST: Aaron Bates. Averages over 43 ypp and drops over 20 inside the 20.

Interesting to look at this now....not a single mention of Blair White at all....I really thought Dell would be the man to step up, though he has been hurt. Also interesting to see all the love Ishmyl was getting and we hardly hear his name at all.
Blair White has quickly become our MVP. does he have 1 or 2 years of eligibility left?

i'm not saying he's Devin thomas...i'm just saying that like DT, he's come out of nowhere...no one even considered him a possible impact player in August.
And that's pretty damned cool.

Yep- love the guy. And really his stat lines the last two games are unbelievable- there's no getting around it. Plus the fact that he's proven to be so dependable.

Ask today's refs. I think they had a discussion about it.
