Off-topic FedEx Ground experience?

Anyone have any experience with FedEx Ground service? I ordered something online that's being shipped that way and the tracking says it should be here tomorrow. Unfortunately, the tracking also shows no activity since it left Kansas at midnight Friday night. Does anyone know why this might be? Do they not update their tracking information on Sundays? TIA.

Probably hasn't been scanned since then.

Last time I had something sent via FedEx it arrived about 8 minutes after the estimated time, so they're usually pretty good with it.

Nothing to do with this, but I've had no good luck with Kinko's. The workers split time between shipping stuff and making copies. I know it makes sense for them- they print their own labels and stuff. But from a customer's perspective, I really don't get the FedEx Kinko's thing at all.

I doubt it. I paid $5 for shipping and the item weighs about 50 lbs. I think it's a much better deal than it would have been going through the mail. Thanks to Woot.com.

It means it is in transport from Kansas to your destination hub. It will probably arrive during the night and go out for delivery the next morning.

Once it's on the truck there isn't any activity until it reaches the dest. city, then gets put on the delivery truck. You should see activity the morning it's scheduled for delivery.

Yeah, I'm experiencing day 8 of my computer's trip from home because of FedEx Ground.

Aside from my current experience, they're not too bad. Don't be too freaked out if you don't receive an update on your package after a while - it's likely travelling from hub to hub, and, if the trip is kind of long, the information likely hasn't been updated yet.

Hang tight. Normally, the transit time isn't as long as advertised (unless you're me).

Thanks for the info. I figured it was traveling from hub to hub, was just surprised that it appears it's taken almost 3 days to go from Kansas to Detroit. Someone just told me though that they don't deliver or update on Sunday or Monday though, so that would explain the delay.

that would depend on where you live. If you live in the delivery zone of a major hub than you won't see activity until delivery date, if you live in a less populated area, then a day before the delivery it will probably get a scan a day before in the major hub

we get days off too. Its the law.

No one works on Sunday and Saturdays are usually reserved for air service only. If it was bought on Friday in Kansas, I would not expect it in Detroit until Tues and the earliest, probably Wed.

Where is there a law saying that you have to get days off?

never had any problems with Fedex Ground. Tracking isn't as complete as UPS, but I've had more luck with Fedex than UPS.

USPS is awful - 8 days to ship a small power supply from Connecticut to Chicago.

Thanks. I understand that not everyone works every day. I just assumed since it left Kansas at Midnight on Saturday night (departed Lenexa, KS at 12:39 AM on 8/23), it was probably in Detroit by now and I was just surprised it hadn't been scanned in at the distribution center yet. I guess there's always the option that it was scanned as it was put on a truck, but that truck didn't actually leave Kansas at that time.

you can only drive a certain number of hours per week and need X number of hours off before driving again.

We don't have 10,000 feeder drivers on command and we do need to move all our daily volume to and from our numerous hubs

Yep, but can you imagine how much it would cost to ship a 50 lbs. item through the USPS?? Also, it's not like I had an option on this one.

were do you live in Michigan?

Can't speak for FedEx, but a pkg coming to Michigan from Kansas would go to either Chicago or Toledo first and get and offload and a reload at UPS.
