....bats are actually in dire need of some respect. They aren't blind, they see quite well, they will not fly into nor care for, humans...they do however, eat >1000 mosquitoes/day and only really come around at night.

I Lived on acreage in dark woods with a pond, which you expect mosquitoes to thrive..yet I had 2 bat houses, etc.....and almost NO mosqu...bats are very cool, actually and they will never, ever fly into your face, your hair, nothing...all junk..they not only see you, but the sonar ****.....

If you are SE mi. and can see the bat exhibit at cranbrook, it is well worth it! Bats with 6' wingspans...

put up a bat house and within 1 yr you will not have ANY mosquitoe problem.

....thanx. you get mosquitoes who drink your blood and leave you itching for days--- bats eat the F'ers by the thousand and, despite your freak-outed-ness never would come close to ya, promise...

theyr'e money...i love not only watching them dive-bomb pests at dusk (which by the way they look cool doing) but the fact that i dont have to swat my calf every 5 seconds cuz of what they took down last night....bats rock, build a house for em.

i think: www.cranbrook.edu

has a bat site for plans for a house, fyi...took the bat tour with my kid and already had 2 up!

I wish I would have known about that. My gf and I saw a bat exhibit in Chicago a few years back that was filled with fruit bats. Those things are so frickin' awesome to see in person. A picture just can't do it justice. They are like tiny foxes with wings. Very odd to see the head on that body.

Um, what do you mean by "sorry, but you had it coming." ???

I was walking out the door to head to the mailbox and a neighbor in my complex was walking their dog in front of my place so I went over to say hi. We started talking about hockey--where do you play, how long have you played, blah blah blah. I like hockey. It's a part of my life. Are you saying I was being punished by the bat for hockey speak?

Didn't JLS have a defensive playbook entitled My Grackle Learns to Tackle (or similar) by Dr Suess?
