Dee Brown is Fast.

So I sit next to a former Illini hooper in one of my classes. So we got to talking about basketball today and I asked what Dee Brown's 40 time would be. He said they actually got timed a few times and Brown's best was a 4.3 or 4.4.

Damn.

Probably 4.4 or 4.5. Coaches in the ball sports don't have a freakin' clue how to actually time a 40 yard dash. But even at this speed he would probably be a sub 11.0 100 meter. Dude is clearly a burner. Proviso East is a stud HS in more than just hoops. Also wrestling, baseball and track. Produced Greg Foster, one of the greatest track athletes of our time.

I know you're Obnoxious Track Guy and everything... but generally, the "ball sports" coaches don't do the timing... it's strength/conditioning/speed coaches.

But I agree with the burner comment.

Just stating a fact. Ball sport coaches try to state these things as absolutes. Scholarships and pro contracts are on the line and they're never accurate. But, why not stick up for them. Without their sports, what the hell would your people do.
BTW, isn't there a group of freshmen girls that need help doing a pyramid or learning to put out to the JV football team?

I laugh Madison because it does seem like 99% of your posts begin with:

-"I was at cross country camp"

-"I couldn't see the game because of a cross country meet"

-"Did anyone know I coach cross country?"

-"Kwame should go because he doesn't know I coach cross country"

And before you call me a stalker, I've been around this board for about 10 years, and I've made it a little game to open your posts to see if you mention cross country in it.

Unlike most people around here, I don't hide my identity and I won't say anything here I wouldn't say to someone's face. And, if you really know this, you would realize I am as into track as I am XC (and, yes, there is a difference). If you read my posts you probably know what I do for a living as well. Sorry if it's much more interesting to do the incognito thing. I'll try to be more stealth in the future. I love my sport, it just so happens to be a sport that only a handful of people around here post on and when it comes up I usually have something to say. So be it. That being said, there are golf, soccer, etc. people around here who are just as easy to ID.
Oh. And this wasn't my thread. I was just debunking someone else's comment. Dee Brown is fast as hell. But Dee Brown is not a 4.3 40.

No offense taken. Really.

I didn't think I added XC/track to that much but my posting totals do tend to fluctuate. I expend plenty of energy on MSU, the Tigers, Pistons, Lions (trying to live Lions free??) but probably do get into my sports more than most (anyone).

The cheerleader coach scolding the track coach on timing.

Yeah I don't really want to share that. The player was not anyone this board would know.

I can run a stopwatch with the best of them - our rounds have time limits.

FWIW, "Obnoxious Track Guy" was a joke - you know, for people who can poke fun at things. Perhaps I should have gone with "Serious Track Guy" or "Cross Country is My Life Guy" if you find obnoxious to be ofensive. But it was intended to be funny.

Comments on the sexuality of 14-year-old girls? Not so much funny.

Ahh, OK. Ever since a former RCMBer showed up at my work, I don't think I'll be handing out my class schedule.

That's a good one.

And I assume 14-year-old girls are not lurking around this place.
