Honestly when will you dumb asses stop this "Well it was a good loss because....." bull****. Its this kind of crap that's held this program back for the last 40 years.

Yup, the sunshine club will never "get it." Thank god, MD does.

How exactly do fans' thoughts determine the outcome of a game?

Trevor, stop lingering in threads of the past. How are we going to win this week if we don't start posting about FAU?

Cal is good but not that good. Yes, let's elevate our foes to super star status so we don't feel so down. Yet another attempt to lessen the blow of a bad loss. The sunshine blowers want to find silver linings in grey clouds.
WSU is so bad that even ND could beat them by 30.

doesn't everyone know that if we jump up and down, stomp our feet, call talk shows, send letters all saying we demand better- oh and not buy tickets - that suddenly we return to the 50s? Brilliant!!!!

Maybe, but 66-3 on the road is pretty impressive.

This tired line of CRAP is such !@%&@*!.
No one accepts a loss and says that is good enough. There is a HUGE difference between indifference to winning and trying to find something positive to carry forward into the next game despite the outcome of the game.
You find me ONE person who says a close game is good enough for this program! You will find thousands who may say that there are indications of good things to come, but that is NOT the same as accepting mediocrity.

Besides, what's wrong with starting a Big Ten/Pac-10 rivalry? Though, I'd hate to see the meltdown on tOSU boards if USC blows them out of the stadium. (Look at the game threads on a tOSU message board yesterday when they were playing Ohio)
Oh yeah, when are you guys coming to Autzen to play? We only treat Wolverine and Beaver fans like total crap

Well, if MSU finishes 6-6 and misses a bowl game because it played @ Cal, that will not make our program better in the long run. Losing does not make a program better, especially if it costs you a bowl game, and the extra practice & exposure you get from going to one.

ferd, OK lets just play the Akrons of the world. How exciting. We are so bad we should not even dare play a high level team on national TV.

Speaking of Akron, maybe we should play Syracuse. They are in a real conference but they are MAC level.

Aren't you being a little short-sighted? I mean, ask yourself this: would you rather go to the Champs Bowl/Alamo Bowl, or a bowl like the Orange, or Sugar, etc? I'm sure MSU will go to a bowl game this year, though the people who consume drain-o during a win will always find something to complain about. Good programs don't happen overnight, sheesh. For those who think otherwise..

Simple fact: Win or lose, Cal game made us better prepared for the tougher part of our schedule than playing a patsy, and if you want to be a real team in a real bowl, you gotta go through this process of playing good teams. Playing patsy teams have little lasting value.

Wow....I guess Cal isn't the world beaters many of you thought they were. After reading how good they are after beating MSU and Wazzu, I had them in the BCS title game. Too bad a loss to a terrible Maryland team derailed that. The same Terps team who blew out Delaware 14-7, and lost an epic battle to Middle Tennessee State 24-14.
Like I said, a middle of the road team (ie average Pac10 team). Not a horrible team, and actually I love the idea of MSU having them on the schedule. Let's just not carried away about what a great loss it was for MSU at "what is probably the 2nd best team MSU will play this year ".

I don't care who they are playing....that's ****ing amazing. Got to feel a whole lot better about how close we played them last week at their house.

Go back and read the comments after Cal demolished the dreg of the PAC-10. Half of them basically read "Gee whiz, they sure are good. Losing to them wasn't so bad after all." and "Wow their offense is AWESOME.....no defense could slow that down."
Maryland kind of blew that line of thinking out of the water yesterday.
Same thing happened vs. Wisconsin last year, vs. Michigan in 04 etc etc. Close loss to a far superior opponent on paper and most people get all giddy about it.

You're right Trev. The attitude of the this program has had nothing to do with anything.

Ill admit I misjudged how good they were. However, Ill give them a few more games to see how good they are.
