I don't know if I have anything that intellectual to add about baseball but I will participate as though I know what I am talking about anyways.
RCMB Opening Day Tailgate in the Nemo's parking lot perhaps?

I have a feeling Bonderman and Zumaya are going to have big years for us.Zumaya sounds like he is really healthy this time. And he sounds like he is starting to really mature a little. If Ryan Perry is ready for the show then the bullpen could be scary good with Zumaya, Perry at the back of it.

I know it is early but this is good news.
LAKELAND, Fla. -- Dontrelle Willis says he is down "about five pounds." It might be the heaviest five pounds any baseball player has ever shed.
The Tigers left-hander appears to be in superb shape, which is a match for the way he feels heading into a 2009 season that he hopes will be a 180-degree turnaround from his 2008 nightmare.

JAYS MAY DEAL HALLADAY AT DEADLINE; LOSING TEAMS WILL LOOK TO UNLOAD- New York Post
Maggs to Mets?
So maybe the Mets outfield corners are not appealing now. Just wait. Detroit's Magglio Ordonez ($21 million left before determining if his options vest) or Houston's Carlos Lee (three years at $55.5 million left) could be available for meager prospects.
The team that came up regularly to deal contracts was the Tigers. As one AL executive said, "No city has been hit worse by the economy than Detroit. And no team has more over-inflated contracts."

Typical New York "world revolves around us" BS. The Tigers are doing just fine.

have to go with a bump here. Andruw Jones is hitting .246 8HR 19RBI in 122AB. not too bad for $500,000 salary. i guess my idea is working out

I don't know if he does that without Rudy Jaramillo and the whole "it's really easy to hit in Texas" thing.
Still, it was nice of him to try once he left LA. I would have a very hard time rooting for him if he were here.

my point was it is worth the shot. teams catch lightning in a bottle with guys rejuvenating their careers/seasons. i would like to see the Tigers at least attempt it when your talking about signing a once proven guy for 1mil or less. if it doesnt work out the financial hit is minimal and if it does work out then you can either trade him for some prospects or play him more when a guy gets injured/struggles, such as Maggs. it would just add another option for the team

Yeah, sorry, you won't ever get me to say anything positive about Andruw Jones or advocate bringing him here. Hope you understand.

thats fine. ill give you another example. how about Carl Pavano with the Indians. if you just look at his 5.73ERA and 59SO in 14 games you might not be impressed. but if you look he has 7 quality starts and if you take away his first start @Tex and his last 2 starts he has pitched great. he has been worth the 1.5mil salary this year.

I woulda made that deal. Pavano is pitching far better than his ERA indicates, and was certainly worth a flier.
Two other guys I wanted fliers on, Saito and Hoffman.
Hoffman: 20.2 IP, 1.31 ERA, 17 Ks, 3 walks
Saito: 24.1 IP, 2.59 ERA, 22 Ks, 8 walks.
Someone needs to hook me up with a direct line to DD. I can't believe after all that, we ended up with Rodney closing, and he actually stepped up and got it done.

if you take away Pavano's first start he has an ERA of 4.79. boy that would look great out of the 4/5 position in our rotation and i agree with you on Hoffman and Saito. it should be interesting thursday when Smoltz debuts for the Red Sox. that was the move that didnt happen that probably got us upset the most. but even Everett is playing better than the 1mil we are paying him this year. they brought in Lyon and he didnt work out. thats fine it happens. but why not take chances on once proven MLB players that you can sign to minor league deals anyways.

Well, Hoffman, Saito, and Pavano are all major league deals, but yeah I get your point.
Pavano sure as hell looks better than AG.

. He's given up 1 run in his last 14 innings pitched.
