Ol' Louie's not gonna survive this one, methinks. Even though he did accurately use one of the lesser definitions of the word "great," people are not going buy it.

If he does survive it, without a doubt, ESPN will force him to issue an explanation for his comment. How the hell in this day and age does a sane individual use a Hitler reference when discussing college football coaching leadership?

I haven't heard any sane individuals use the example

no way he really said that?
even if it was delivered with perfect sarcasm, you can't go there on a college football show. even if he apologizes at half time and rattles off some blah blah blah excuse, i hope he gets run for good and they make amends with Trev Alberts. Anyone that can remember Rece, Trev, and May remembers the glory days

How long until it is ok to name restaurants and stores after Hitler? I mean, after all, there seems to be a lot of restaurants/stores named after Genghis Khan across the USA and he was every bit as evil as Hitler was.

Wow.
I don't take offense to many things. I mean the vast majority of my friends at State just called me "jew" and I never took offense.
I always told them, any jew joke is fine by me, except the holocaust, that goes over the line.
Churchill wouldn't have worked as an example of a good leader?
What a joke.

BTW, Hitler was a great leader, but he was PURE EVIL! Why the HELL would you use Hitler as an example?? Aren't there PLENTY of great leaders in history that didn't try to wipe out an entire race and take over the world?
|
I would suggest that great leaders lead people to do great things. By that definition Hitler was the opposite of a great leader.

That is debatable on many levels.

Well, Mongolians have better cuisine than Germans do in my book, so that might have something to do with it.
Edit: Well, that and the fact that there aren't many people alive that had an immediate family member killed by Genghis Kahn, as far as I know.

Okay, hold on. I wasn't including beer when I said "cuisine." I grew up in Frankenmuth; I love bratwurst and sauerkraut, but have you ever had liverwurst? How 'bout that horrid Stollen bread crap? For every good German food, there's three bad ones, I swear.

It's not, but we hate Lou Holtz so we can overreact and make ESPN think more and more people are extremely offended to get his ass canned.

No, it meant that he was great at leading. So, are you saying that his top General, Rommel, wasn't a great leader too? You don't have to do GOOD things to be a great leader. All you have to do is lead. I didn't say Hitler was a great person, but a great leader, which he was. He is possibly the biggest POS to have ever walked the Earth, but that is besides the point.

Well, he certainly got people to follow him. I guess I just define "leader" in a different way. That being said, I'm not sure what I would call Hitler. A great fascist, populist politician and propagandist? Maybe, but I wouldn't call him a leader.
semantics I guess.
