Did you also conclude that you might possibly be making yourself stupid? Seriously those things are not good for your kids. We have couple of friends who used them extensively and their kids we verbally about a year behind where they should have been. Wouldn't let my kids within a mile of those.

I read the underlying study and it makes sense. You should give some thought into putting them on the shelf. It's probably not best to take a chance especially if your child is younger than 3. There are also lots of very reputable studies that link excessive TV/video viewing by children under 3 to autism and ADD later in life.

My daughter used to watch it, and she seems pretty normal. Then again, I'm not that smart, so maybe she just "seems" normal to me.
But we also sprinkled in a smattering of parenting as well.

so you're sayin he's a buckethead...
EDIT: for the record the whole point of this exercise was that I wanted to bang a deaf chick because I think it would be fun to hear her moan in bed and would make me laugh uncontrollably.

That's ****ing OUTRAGEOUS in today's society! You should have hired a nanny to raise your kids because that's the way the folks in Hollywood do it and they all seem pretty normal to me.

The damage is probably already done. Better to be one of those genius parents who never expose their children to television. Social ******ation, after all, is so much better than regular ******ation.

It was funny, when my first was young I was sitting there watching the end of one of those when Julie came on. I looked at her, & realized, hey, I knew her. She lived in Wilson when I was there, dated two friends of mine.

I couldn't keep myself focused to read your whole post but, I watch Baby Einstein all the time. It isn't a problem.

yeah, my son just likes animated stuff, especially animals. He cracks up laughing at the sight of animated animals, even the ones on the simpsons. Puppets, animals, and colors keep him happy

You don't honestly believe watching television helps your child with socialization skills do you? I mean think about it...

I am not sure not watching them makes you any smarter but watching them a lot definitely has an adverse impact. I don't remember the details of the study but it was watching based on kids watching them an hour a day or more on average or something like that. Kids had something in the range of a 40% drop in vocabulary and comprehension. But there was no effect on kids that watched them occasionally.
The autism studies were based on kids under two watching 2 hours or more a day and the effects became more pronounced as time increased. The mapped the rise in autism to the spread of televisions into the home and even to the frequency of tvs in kids rooms and there was a scary correlation. They even found correlations between incident rates and climate - more bad weather + higher autism rates with the theory being more time inside watching tv.
The theory is that at that age kinds brains are developing the areas that deal with imaging and 3D modeling and spending too much time viewing a 2D world like tv screws that up permanently and effects a kids ability to relate to the real world as the grow up.
