NYT - Apple sweeps all three Best Laptop categories in latest Consumers Reports ratings
Consumer Reports Takes a Shine to Apple - Gadgetwise Blog - NYTimes.com
Quote:
In laptops, Apple MacBooks rated first in the 13-inch category, the 14-to 16-inch size, and the 17-inch list; Dell, Toshiba and Hewlett-Packard were also-rans. The 15-inch MacBook Pro was rated overall with a score of 75 out of 100, ahead of a 64-rated Toshiba Satellite (the Pro costs $2,000, the Toshiba $700).
Among desktops, the Mac mini finished second to an H-P Pavillion Slimline, and the iMac placed second behind a Dell XPS One.
CR surveyed its readers about computer tech support. Apple trounced the field in both desktop and laptop categories.

I sense an Apple circle jerk coming with alternating Apple hating posts which will ultimately result in a Pro-Windows circle jerk thread.

Actually you can run Windows on a MacBook or a MacBook Pro. In fact, when Vista came out, the MacBook Pro ran it faster than any notebook on the market.

maybe you should mention Apples can run Windows but PCs can't run Mac OSX except for a weird hack someone discovered.

ive used OSX a LOT.....i HATE the interface....
there is no denying that OSX is a far more stable system than Vista (who knows how Windows7 will be). however i would not trade windows for OSX any day of the week. the only think i like about mac's interface is two fingered scrolling on the touch pad....and i hate their keyboards

Then why is it that every time I send a file, photo, graphic or whatever to a Mac user, 1 out of 5 times they will reply, "Can you send that again? The file is corrupted." You know how many times that happens to me with PC users?
About 0 out of 1,000,000 times.

My problem is that when people send stuff from a Mac is either in word perfect format or NEVER has a file extension attached to it... Or the person that is sending it is an idiot... but they are a client so I cant tell them that.

there are market forces at work here people.....
Mac didn't have to allow PC/MS programs to work on their software. How much clamoring is there going on for PC's to support OSX?
the only reason iTunes runds on windows is because no one would buy an iPod if they were Mac supported only

I don't have anything against Macs per se, but until 51 percent of the United States uses them (including my employer), I will NEVER buy one.

Riiiight. "Attach file" and "send" is a really difficult process.
And like I said, it only happens with Mac users.
