Can Someone Explain Wimbledon Brackets to Me?

I thought it was standard practice for 1 v 8, 2 v 7, 3 v 6, and 4 v 5 in any single-elimination bracket. Then 2 v 3 and 1 v 4 in the semis.

At Wimbledon, it seems 5 v 6, 3 v 8, 4 v 1, and 2 v 7. With 3 v 5 and 1 v 2 in the semis. How does that make sense?

Or was it because Rafa dropped out and they had to move people around? I still can't make sense of it. My assumption is that Rafa was in Djokovich's bracket (4).

Anyone who knows what's going on?

The draws for all grand slam events and ATP events (except year end championships) are chosen randomly after the top two seeds are placed in the top draw and the bottom draw. The numbers that you are seeing sometimes are probably the world ranking.

This makes sense, however the numbers are the seeds, I think they seed the first 32 now days.
