But when you think about the fact that he laid out $8K now for 4 years of college - that is amazing. I put way more than that into my duaghters college fund each year and she's not even 6...
I went to UF and when I was there from 02-06 in-state tuition was about $105 a credit hour.

Florida State has in excess of 40,000 students

Yup, the pre-paid college tuition program. Got my daughter locked in for $11k about 2 years ago. And if she decides to go to MSU, the equivalent funds are transferable (i.e. if our contribution is worth $30k at that time, then that can go toward MSU's tuition, or a private university, etc.).

I thought most states had something similar, even if it costs more than Florida.

Miami is 15,500, with 5,000 of those graduate students.

Stetson is 2300 undergrad and roughly 400 grad students.

Not necessarily a good thing.

Schools increase enrollments when state funding gets cut in addition to increasing tuition. Just increases the phenomenon of "degree factory."

Post student to teacher ratios instead

I have a cousin who is pretty proud of the fact that he went to UCF. I asked him if anyone outside of Central Florida was likely to have heard of the school he dropped his head and said "probably not."

That will probably change.
