RF might not even be the best tennis player of his generation.

If you look at the stats, it's not really a comparison. Gretzky is the best player in the history of sport. Maybe not the greatest athlete, though obviously underrated. But very clearly the best player of all time.

All time? Wonder how 99 would have fared against 9. You take an old Gordie Howe and he was still taking kids to school. WG was very good, perhaps the best of our generation, but ALL TIME?

Ummmm, Gordie Howe kinda throws that "clearly" part right out the window. Perhaps more appropriately, he elbows it right out the window, kicks it's ass, scores a goal on it, then sets up another goal.

Depends on your definition of "dominant," but if you're looking for one person with the best combination of skill/talent, leadership, ability to take over a game, ability to inspire fear in opposing teams/fanbases, strength, will, determination, and effort, all rolled into one super "athlete," then I think the only answer is Michael Jordan.

Of course he is. He is considered my most to be the best male tennis player ever. If you're referring to Nadal, it's too early to say.

Not really a fair question considering Tiger and Federer's Careers are not over, If you are going by dominating a single sport it is definitely one of those two.

Best in history of TEAM sport is Gretzky, hand downs statistically. Tennis, golf and boxing are different deals.

Lance Armstrong. 7 Tour de France victories in a row, in a sport where winning two in a row is nearly unheard of.

I hadn't thought about that dude in I don't know how many years, until you brought him up just now. Yes, he's the most dominant athlete I've ever heard of.

7 wins in a row is amazing but 3 others have won five times (not in a row) and others 3 times including Greg Lemond in the 1980's. Armstrong (if we believe he was clean) was a great rider and had a great team which is hugely important in this sport.
