Thought some of you might enjoy this. A view from crowd in the Estudiantes/Cruzerios Copa Libertadores final the other night.

It's nice that there are still places where fans can be fans, not like most places Europe where they throw you out if you don't sit down and behave like good boys and girls.

Not that new, I think it came out back in November. There is a 3D match display now. It's a little clunky, but infinitely better than circles with numbers on them. Spending 100 million pounds on transfers each for the first 3 seasons feels like cheating, but makes it easy to win a Premiership/FA Cup/CL treble in the 2nd season. It keeps a running clock on how long you've been playing your current game. Mine is almost at 2 days

Aguirre made a huge mistake and will pay for it, and assistant Manuel Vidrio made a mistake too by getting in Phillips's face.

But I think you are being extremely unfair to the Mexican players. They behaved well last night, and people like Guillermo Ochoa and Jose Antonio Castro did more to control the crowd than did the authorities.

You're crazy if you think someone like Landon Donovan wouldn't have been furious at the ref if he had been getting hacked like Dos Santos was.

Sorry you are blinded. Just go back and look at the cheap shots mexican players have taken when losing.

You know it happens all the time when things aren't going their way. At least half of your team can't keep their cool in the clutch. THey would rather attack other players and try to hurt them.

Be honest with yourself and admit this is a huge part of their problem. Attitude.

I'm talking about last night you moron. Our players acted fine last night.

Others (namely Marquez) have lost their cool before, but last night our players were on good behavior. Commendable, actually, if you're talking about Guillermo Ochoa.

Also, Mexico isn't known as a dirty team around the world. You see them like that because you hate our team, but we don't really have that reputation like other teams do. We have a few hotheads like Marquez and Blanco, but for the most part I don't agree with your assessment of our players.

I think Landon Donovan is an extremely classless player, and I think that Onyewu fouls his man on pretty much every corner kick, but I'm sure you don't agree.

Javier Aguirre has been hit by CONCACAF and FIFA with a 3-game suspension and a $25,000 fine. The Mexican Federation will also fine him, although the amount is unknown at the time.

This means that if Aguirre wants to be on the bench in the qualifier vs. the USA, Mexico has to make it at least to the Gold Cup semifinals.

Holden scored a beautiful goal in stoppage time to give the US the tie when it seemed like Haiti was going to steal the win

That is kind of a disappointment isn't it? Didn't see the match but it seems like Haiti was almost as bad as Grenada.

Anyhow, we're on to the quarter-finals to take on one of the lower seeds as we move on. I wouldn't read much into the result, other than the fact that Holden looked pretty good..........

good to know, this is kind of what I thought must have happened

Three pages in and this thread has already his rock bottom. Any chance we can have a separate CONCECAF-misery thread?

Good one.

I want a thread about this new ball that almost everyone can hit about a million MPH from anywhere. Enough with new ball technology already.

Oh, and Robles can't think straight in goal. Man he was terrible.

It's people who quit school or never attended (despite Mexico having many public schools) and left their country because they weren't successful here. 110 million others stay here, but they abandoned their country. Then they somehow "forget" Spanish and never really learn English so they end up speaking in that "Spanglish" crap that is considered very very low-class in Mexico. They listen to Reggaeton crap and say words like "Ese" and "Vato" in normal conversations. In my many experiences with Mexican-Americans, I've found that they tend to be loud, uneducated, and somewhat vulgar. Yes I might be sounding very elitist here, but it's a sentiment shared by many people in Mexico.

Let me take a wild guess here Arfabe, I would bet that your entire lineage can be traced back to Spain, "your people" have yet to co-mingle with any of those short dark skinned "natives", and anyone in the family that does is shunned by the rest of the pure family. Your ancestors were probably installed as governor of some area in Mexico by Spanish Royalty, and the money and power has been passed down from generation to generation.

While my mother is white and from Belgian and Spanish descent, my father looks exactly like you'd expect a Mexican to look (except he's 6'2'').

I myself am not white, but I'm also not as dark as my dad.

And no I don't come from old money. My mother was rather poor growing up and my dad had money but wasn't loaded, which might seem weird since my mom is the white one and my dad is the dark-skinned one.

After my father split from my grandfather's business, my parents had nothing and lived in a crappy one-bedroom home until my mom was pregnant with me.

My dad started his own business from the ground up and throughout most of my life we had money but nothing like what you're imagining. Throughout the last year or so my dad's business has been doing very badly, we're in debt, and my family is having a really hard time paying for my education at MSU.

So don't assume so much. I just happen to not appreciate a culture in which most people are content with being uneducated and going around the system to get what they want. I also don't appreciate them not being able to speak English OR Spanish the right way. And I don't appreciate the bad name they give Mexicans with the things they do, the way they act, etc.

Some people also don't appreciate generlizations of groups of people such as "those people are lazy" and "they are very very low class."

Obviously I'm not saying the entire group of people is like that.

I also never called them lazy, and never said "they are very low class," I said the Spanglish crap they speak is considered low class in Mexico. Two very different statements, but nice try at putting words in my mouth.

I was talking about my general impressions (from many encounters) of that group.

I'm sure when you speak about Michigan or Notre Dame fans you never generalize

Sadly it's going to be Man U wining the EPL, Real winning La Liga, and Inter will win Sirea A but Juve can give Inter a run for their money. You never know Barca might beat out Real and I hope to God that Arsenal beats out Man U, but I highly doubt that will happen.
