Off-topic 100 Must See Movies: The Essential Men’s Movie Library

Gentlemen, The Art of Manliness web site lists 100 movies every man must see during his lifetime.

A lot of great movies on the list and I think anyone (male or female) would enjoy many of the recommendations.

Enjoy!

Not a bad list but a lot of movies I thought were missing. Quite a wide range of movies though. Most of the older ones I have not seen (or only seen the remakes).

Obviously these are all great movies but over half of them I'd end up

p.s. Sweep the leg!

No "The Man Who Would Be King"? That has to be in the TOP TEN of any self respecting man movie list

"Bull Durham" is a chick flick

"Dead Poets Society"? You gotta be ****ting me.

Never saw "The Bicycle Thief", "Mar Adentro", "The Best Years Of Our Lives", "Zulu", "Gentlemen's Agreement", or "A Raisin In The Sun".

If Lone Wolf McQuade isn't number one, the list is nullified.

I see that Jeremiah Johnson made the manliness list. This makes sense to me because I can watch that movie once a week and my wife can't stand it.

Half of those movies are not manly, they are old and gay.

No Boondock Saints? Outlaw Josey Wales? The Outlaw Josey Wales, The Dirty Dozen, and Kelly's Heroes were staples in my household. I swear my dad watched these movies once a month.

Others have mentioned movies I thought should have made the list. They really should make a list for each decade, too many movies were snubbed.

Tons of good suggestions there, but that is definitely not "the top 100" that men must see.

Rudy? I'll never understand why people like Groundhog Day. And I can't stand John Wayne movies.

Outlaw Josey Wales is a huge omission. Midway & Crimson Tide come to mind also.

It's a great movie, but whether it's a top 100 essential is debatable.

Patton is in the list.

Ybob's right about The Dirty Dozen. No way you have a top 100 men's list and not have that one in there.

I realize my taste in movies is not mainstream - I like the old ones.

But where is James Cagney? No White Heat? No Angels with Dirty Faces? His films will put hair on your chest.

I'm not sure how Groundhog Day makes it but Caddyshack doesn't. Pulp Fiction, Blues Brothers and Animal house all need to be on there.
