tOfficial "The Office": Season 6 Discussion Thread
The sixth season starts tonight at 9PM EST on NBC. Can't wait.
I'm trying to finish season five today before work, I kinda missed like, half of it due to DirecTV issues with the local networks a while ago.
Very glad to see it back on.

It wasn't the greatest, but it was O.K.. It would have been funny to see what else they could have done with the interns in future episodes.
Does it seems like these NBC shows have more, but shorter, commercial breaks?

This is an argument that is probably for another thread, but the cutting down of shows for commercials is bull****, especially in the cable/satellite-era. Shows are now cutting around 20 minutes, plus title sequence.

2 parts really made me laugh: Michael getting tricked into joining a team for something called "poopball" and Crede's rant about how if people find out he has asthma he won't be able to SCUBA.

I liked the parkour sequence at the beginning of the show. Michael, Dwight and Andy are awesome.

Couple of moments made me laugh, rest of it boring and forgettable like most of the last 2 seasons, especially the last one.

I liked season five more than season four. It was funnier. It started off slow, but I'm sure like last season, this one will get better.

I thought that was the funniest scene I have seen on that show in a long time. Way to start the new season. The rest of the episode was pretty vanilla though.

I liked when Kevin was giving his assessment of Pam's pregnancy:
"I thought she was pregnant because her boobs looked bigger. Then I thought maybe she was wearing a bra with extra padding, but that didn't make sense because Pam doesn't need extra padding!"

Creed is the man. I loved that part.
It was a good start to the season IMO. I agree with whoever said it's been downhill the last few years, but the end of the last season showed promise and I think they've heard and adjusted to the criticism that it was becoming less comedy and more Pam & Jim TV. Hopefully this season is an improvement.

The office has turned Michael into a mongoloid, just like the Simpsons did with Homer. The characters are supposed to be a little clueless but not THAT clueless.

And that is what made the BBC version of "The Office" so damn good! They didn't see the need to drag it out.

Typical RCMB response, no shades of gray.
Last season was a bit of a disappointment because the show slipped a little but it was still funny. But really, GD horrible? I thought last night was a bit of a return to the earlier seasons. I found the stuff with Andy questioning his sexuality pretty damn funny.
Ending it's run only makes sense if they have something better to put in it's place, I doubt they do. Have you seen Parks and Recreation?

this. I love how all of the internet hipsters love to tell people The Office isn't funny anymore or should have ended 2 seasons ago. It's all "look at me I'm too cool for The Office, that was so 2005."

I laugh at some of your responses...like "They first 4 seasons were great, now it's horrible, get it off the air!!" What a crock, I would almost guarantee that you probably saw 5 or 6 episodes of the first few years, and one or two in the last couple and are just trying to be one of these internet hard azzes to show how cool and "critically acclaimed" you are.
All shows have up and down seasons, and up and down episodes. What makes the Office great is that it has an endless supply of storylines it can expand on (ie. Cheers, Friends, Seinfeld). They are getting better at doing this, it takes awhile to explore and see what works and doesn't work. But no matter what you have some awesome characters that have developed and carry the show, whether an particular episode has a good plot or not. Hopefully they continue to get creative and really make the show go, either way just watching these characters and the subtle comedy that goes on with each is better than 95% of the other sitcoms out there, and better than ANY reality show. And certainly better than any other NBC comedy they have going. Plus, Andy Bernard is my hero.
