Had tix offered to me for this game. Really thought about it. BUT, I live in the western most part of Iowa and it would be a 12 hour drive for me. Have to be back on Sunday for work, and i would get back in at about 4 am. Too many miles, not enough time. If i still lived in Michigan, i would be at the game. And it wouldnt matter if it snowed, or rained, or whatever, i would be there. A bad day at SS is far better than the best day in my living room.

If it's decent weather I may tailgate more than spectate
It has been a bad year for tailgating. What does the WMU game mean anyway-other than a big pay day for WMU. I will be looking fwd. to Penn State-always a challenge to the less than hearty-plus the game means something if only in BT circles.

near freezing temps? It's supposed to be warmer than it has been the past 2 home games . But yeah. I don't know a single person who cares about Western football besides the dude that posts here, Bronco13 or something.

Now that's dedication. I don't think I've ever heard of the dude withholding sex as a punishment .

I'm mystified by all this bandwagon talk. What bandwagon has there ever been? We follow the same script almost every year. Get up to 4 or 5 wins and then sputter towards (sometimes) that elusive 6th victory for some crappy bowl game. Now the team's sputtering just to get to win #5 - that is regressing.
It'll be some minor miracle that they do qualify to play a bowl game in Detroit. THAT's a goal? THAT's the road traveled by a bandwagon?
Maybe Dantonio can do something with this team (he's not getting fired, so get off the ledge), but don't talk or act like this is a top tier team until it IS a top tier team (beating ranked opponents, getting ranked - period).
Being mediocre in your own conference doesn't cut it, and it sure as hell doesn't warrant the delusion that this program is something to get excited over.

Spartan football is like voluntarily, regularly and eagerly attending a 3 and a half hour masochist session for 13 weeks every year in the Fall. Our loyalty is warped. So if there are those who have reached their threshold and want to use their "safe word" because they just can't stand it any more, I totally understand.

I would love to be there, but the rut will be in full swing. It wouldn't matter if we were 9-0, I'm scheduled to be in a tree stand.

I will be there, and I can understand why many won't be. I made no effort to go to games late in the 2002 and 2006 seasons. Both of those teams quit playing by the end of September, so I decided not to waste my time and money to watch them. This year's team is putting in the effort, and unfortunately they are coming up short. I'll go to the game Saturday knowing that even if they don't play particularly well, they will put forth a good effort. That has been the case with the current coaching staff. They make mistakes and they deserve to be second guessed, but the kids play until the end of the season. That is all we can really ask for.

I'll defiantly be there. Going to be tailgating by 9am. The entire upper deck of the student section will probably be empty. I wish we could fill Spartan every game not just those that are hyped up.

That was back when I was an usher for upper section 6. Nearly the same vantage point, opposite side of the stadium though.

It would be nice to turn Spartan Stadium into a place that opposing teams hated to play in. First step, everyone needs to show up, win or lose. Second, we need better cooperation from the school, the city of East Lansing and the local merchants. Adding more night games wouldn’t hurt and how about a Thursday night game on ESPN? Each and every Saturday should be a day long football celebration. Game day’s could be incredible in EL, just think Green Bay. It has zero to do with the team and everything to do with that loyal fan base.
I lived in A2 for eight years and it’s pathetic, SCUM losses and it’s nothing but tail lights and tears as the “faithful” speed out of town with their tails between their legs. We can and should be more resilient than that.
People on this board like to talk at length about the team quitting, i.e. typical Spartans. Well what about the fans who quit?
Show up on Saturday and act like a Spartan.

Its been that way since I was an undergrad in the late 70's.
Other's won't show but the MSU student section was about a third empty 2 years ago in November when the boys had a great 4th quarter and beat PSU. Showing up for games in November when the weather is marginal or bad has never been a strong point for MSU students no matter how good the team's record happens to be.
However if we would have a sunny 55 degree Indian Summer day student attendance will be strong.

As a student, I hate it as much as anyone when the student section looks empty. I've come to realize though, that not everyone is a diehard like you and I. I won't let rain or a losing record keep me from Spartan Stadium, but some people will bail if there's the slightest CHANCE of a sprinkle.
Also, I know people hate this argument, but with the way we get packed in to the student section, it's a lot more obvious when a few thousand students don't show compared to a few thousand alums.

Thought it over since Saturday. Asked myself would I rather watch what I saw Saturday, then I thought about the Central game, then I thought about the fourth quarter of the M game, then I thought about the Iowa game. Then I decided to rake leaves, bring in the houses, and take my wife out for a nice dinner w/wine. It was a pretty easy call and my tickets were gobbled up in about 10 minutes. Now we'll watch our high school try to defeat Devin Gardner's squad. It's a shame, but enough is enough. What made up my mind was the Dantonio interview on WJR this am. He talked about every innocuous thing he could, but never once, not one time did he mention that his team surrendered 42 points to an anemic team that had lost more than 60% of its "offense". He didn't say word one about the reason his team lost as the favorite. That means he's out of touch with reality, is in denial, and worst of all will not make the changes (Narduzzi and Barnett) that would give MSU a fighting chance into the future.
