Well that's true for fans, but for Dick Rod it's also his freaking job . I'd love to see my CFO's reaction if I said monumentally screwed up the 10-Q and then said 'They're just numbers, it's not like it's life or death '.

Obviously he doesn't have a frickin' clue of both the program and the school that he is coaching at to make that kind of statement.

If it’s just a game, then he shouldn’t make millions of dollars to coach it.

That was my first thought too...

Also he should require "extra" time from his student athletes that will take away from their studies...which are more than a game?

Also...some of his "student athletes" are at Michigan because they think that playing football at Michigan will prepare them for the next step in their lives...is it just a game for them?

(paging apologists with BS responses...)

My job is about 1% as important as DickRod's is, and if I ever said "it's not life and death" when I was screwing up at work, I'd be out on my ass.

This.

You make that kind of statement at North Poughkeepsie State, not at the winningest program in college football, leaders and the best,

After the Purdue loss what will the response be to "Have you lost this team?"

Exactly.

While it is just a game there are billions of dollars involved. You, as a coach, at a major BCS school, make millions of dollars a year to win the games on the schedule. This allows your leather faced wife the ability to buy unlimited tanning sessions, hair bleachings, and horrendous outfits.

So, RichRod, who are you crappin'?

True. If we were 7-2, this would be so much more fun.

I actually agree with him. People blow this **** way out of proportion. There are a lot more important things in life than whether your team wins or loses a game.

BUT, if you're going to say that as a coach, you have to explain why you make $2.5 Million per year, more than 90% of Americans make in an entire lifetime. That seems like an awful lot of money to be paid for something that really doesn't matter a whole lot.

I say D Rod should make $500,000/year and ticket prices should be reduced to reflect the actual importance of the sport.

Can't have it both ways, RR.

Not if major infraction are found....

But seriously, how can you defend a guy whose responses to genitive press is "Get a Life" and "It's just a game." Those may be acceptable response in the school cafeteria...but it rarely works for heads of multi-million dollar corporations.

He is right. It is just a game. The statement has nothing to do with his ambition to succeed. In fact, it might be a really public way of getting his kids to relax a bit. Maybe they are wound too tight?

Michigan and West Virginia would have both been better off if RichRod had stayed in Morgantown. With that being said, I think that Michigan should honor their contract with him and have him coach all six years of that deal.

Yeah I know. I guess I am either hoping they find nothing or something so bad that it sets their program back like scUM basketball. If they find something stupid and small that results in something like 2 years probation and allows them to get rid of him with no financial repercussions, I will be .
