Want to know how to save energy with a water heater?

Set the temperature to a point where all you turn on in the shower is hot water and you are comfortable. If you are adding cold water to to cool down your hot water you are wasting energy.

The old water heater was so full of sediment that they had to remove it without draining it. Love hard water. Can you actually drain sediment out of the Lower valve?

Don't worry about the volts. It's the amps that'll kill ya.

Tanner,
You don't have to be afraid of any current you can control at the circuit box. Just have a cheep current tester and check what you are working on after you throw the circuit to off.

Just be prepared to repeat the process in less than 10 years in you plan on staying in the home and don't get a softener.

One last question Tanner,
Did you buy a model that has a recirculating pump or circular fill ring that slows down the scaling by agitating the water in the tank?

ps I see a softener in your future, even if you move to another locale in sunny Florida.
