Kirk Cousins on the 2 QB System
He said at the press conference today that it's not ideal to be taken out of the game after a TD drive, but he won't second guess MD

Yeah... Karsch and Gator thought that was a curious statement and wonder what kind of waves may be going through MSU's lockerroom.
But don't worry, because they also think Michigan is fine and have been where people expected them to be when the season began.... so all is well in AA.
I swear to ****ing Christ... I so wanna take a day off of work so I can call these buffoons and give them a piece of my mind. They're absolutely awful.

Me too. To me, MD's insistance on inserting KN into the game at all tells me that either, 1) MD is afraid of not playing Nichol because he doesn't want Nichol to transfer again, or 2) he's is truly lacking judgement as to how good Nichol is and/or when the best timing is to put him into the game. Either way, I'm not as confident in him as I was before the season, although I wouldn't want anyone else coaching the Spartans.

If there is some "rule" that he has to put Nichol in, do it on the first series of the game and get it over with.

I would have no problem with Nichol coming in after KC's had a few drives stall out (like in the first half vs ND) or to bring him in during certain situations, ie inside the 5 yard line, 3rd and short, etc. But to bring him in cold inside our own 5 yard after we had just scored was mind boggling. Did he really think that KN had a better chance to drive the team 95 yards than KC did?

If you haven't realized that this Keith Nichol garbage is 100% political then you haven't been paying attention.
Dantonio has obviously made promises to Nichol in some way or another, and is submarining Cousins (and this team) to keep his word. Not only has Cousins proven to be the best QB in the Big Ten (without argument IMO,) but Nichol has proven to be wholly ineffecient. The talent disparity is real, and it's been evidenced over the course of the season. To insert Nichol into the game inside his own 10 yard line, trailing 14-7, following a Cousins TD pass, right after Cousins got into rhythm, and wearing a giant elbow brace is unfair to both QBs and the entire team.
Dantonio has proven that he cares less about team success and more about keeping promises to Nichol or whoever he made them to. Only political reasons would cause Nichol to have any playing time in a meaningful situation over a healthy Cousins. This hasn't been hidden and it's pretty much destroyed this season... I think it has played a large role in the losses to CMU, ND, and now Minnesota.

So Cousins said it is not ideal to come out after a TD drive. News Flash, the football is not totally round either. Obvious statement.
He also said that he supports and is not going to second guess him. Dead issue.

Yeah. Right. More like a ripple. Cousins, perhaps inartfully, was saying nothing more than you would expect a competitive kid to say: he wanted to play and was feeling in a rhythm. It's as if Cousins was asked to respond to being yanked after he had thrown 2 picks.

This is putting it extremely mildly.
Dantonio apparently loses his god damn mind once he gets West of Chicago.
He did the same ******* thing against Wisconsin.
Both times after sick ass TOUCHDOWN throws by Cousins.

Agreed. Cousins is a slow starter, while Nichol appears to be a guy that starts out either hot or cold.

What's he gonna say? He's a good kid and team player. It may be a dead issue, but we as pissed off fans have every right to not be happy about it. And this message board provides us the perfect outlet to express our displeasure.

When did he start out hot?

Based on Nickles' one-hop passes, I feel confident in saying that Oklahoma was not concerned when he transferred. His mechanics are clearly not as good as Cousins'.

This is one of the things that I've absolutely hated about Dantonio. It is, in fact, the only thing I am really willing to challenge the staff about. It's OBVIOUS to everyone watching that Cousins is ready to be an effective Big 10 QB and Nichol can't even make short passes to wide open receivers. I honestly believe that Damon Dowdell was more reliable than Nichol has shown to be at this point. Granted, Nichol still could be pretty good. It's early to say he's going to be a flop. But so far...

While I didn't hear Mike V.'s rant, I believe he mentioned this, and I'm starting to believe it.

He said the exact same thing after the loss to Wisconsin during which he was pulled after throwing a TD pass and Nichol took over and threw a pick. Nothing new here.
“It is tough to get in rhythm at times when you’re going in and out of the game. I’ve said before it’s not the ideal situation to ... score, establish a rhythm, feel like you’ve got something going and then not be in there. But again, the coaches, that’s their decision.”

Now saying Damon Dowdell is more reliable than Nichol is just plain dumb. Don't be dumb, Pablo.
