How do you listen to sports talk radio?

in Detroit that is. Karsh and Anderson are just pathetic on so many levels and I can't take listening to the constant negativity that Mike brings to the table. That and the fact I could care a less about hearing about other people's opinions on sports whom I never met. However, I love listening to Rome, maybe because of the fact that he actually brings athletes on the air to interview.

I don't. Detroit sports talk radio is so far past pathetic, it really is just sad. Some here like Valenti, mostly because he went to MSU, but he is brutal. Rome is, if nothing else, entertaining, which none of the local programs are. Thank God for Sirius and XM, so I can solid sports programming, and not that crap on the local airwaves here.

I don't ever listen to it. Too much and to generate ratings. I stick to 100.7, 93.9, 88.7, and sometimes 101.1.

It can be tough but when I switch around I find music radio to be even more pathetic. Talk radio in many forms is a great forum, unfortunately when you have 2 bit douche bags running the show things can get ugly.

try Atlanta (680 the fan)

The morning crew is decent and the have Leo Mizzoni on (former Braves pitching coach) who shares neat stories.

The afternoon crew is some former UGA QB who every minute does the "name thing" (where you lower your voice and slowly say the name) it annoys the piss out of me and the second he says it I change to a CD. Add that to the fact that all you ever hear is UGA talk up the ass (even though GT is a top 10 BCS team) and it is unlistenable.

It's entertainment just like tRCMB. Some of you take some of the silliest things too seriously.

To RCMB'ers, if a sport talk host doesn't kiss MSU butt, they are terrible and the show sucks.

In my opinion the entertainment value of sports talk radio on the local level (because I do actually find the national shows pretty entertaining) is based 100% on the callers who are completely bat **** loco.

This.

There is nothing more entertaining than Walverine scUM football fans. It is absolutely pure entertainment gold. If I were sitting at home, no I probably wouldn't listen, but while at work and in the car, it makes the day a little bit easier.

I wouldn't listen to Rome if you paid me a buck a minute. ($5.00 a minute, maybe.)

The originator of the sni99ering fratboy f$$#t douche schtick about 10 million other sports radio dip$#$#ts use. Too bad Jim Everett didn't put his fist down his throat.

I intermittently listen to Valenti and Foster (and used to listen to Stoney and Wojo) for about 15 minutes once a day in the car, if I don't have a CD I want to listen to. The rest of them, never -- especially not the giggling chucklef$#$#ks on all the morning show, who think it's very funny for us to listen to them laugh at each other's catastrophic lame-ass jokes.

Agree with Walverines being the best part of Detroit sports radio. From our standpoint it's great that their fanbase it nowhere near as intelligent as their alumni base, because that would be boring radio. When Michigan football being good is the ONLY thing you have going for you in life, you're bound to defend it much more vigorously

I would assume people that take this place seriously and post blanket generalizations after games would be the target demographic for sports radio. There's definitely an audience for it, and it seems like a place to vent for a lot of people.

I can't take this place too seriously, typically avoid it for a day following any loss, and I definitely can't listen to sports radio.

The ESPN network station I usually listen to in the car, (Mike and Mike, Cowherd), carries Huge in the afternoon. I cannot listen more than one caller before I start swearing at the radio as the station is turned.

After having Satellite for a few years, I couldn't imagine going back to listening to local stuff. Sirius was one of the best decisions I've made when it comes to creature comfort type things.

Are we talking political radio or those self help shows? Political talk radio is 10 times worse than sports talk. Although if you believe all the bull**** they shovel at you I can see why political (I'm talking both sides here) talk radio is so popular. The choir does love being preached to.

Has anyone listened to the mid-day guy on 1130. All I have heard are his promos and I cannot imagine what his show is like, it it really all SCum loving? I mean the one promo that was not all about them was about how lame Spartan fans were for blaming officials, just like the SCum fans they used to poke fun at.

Yes, the detroit market for sports talk has fallen off (sports docs), but I think it is great background noise, and even a little entertaining sometimes.

Of course if you really want to make comparisons, anyone remember the Fabulous Sports Babe???

I listen to:
Sean Baligian on WDFN. Very level headed Spartan fan who actually knows what he's talking about.
Mike Valintae on WXYT. Over the top loon who goes off on hysterical rants. Epic.
Sam Webbb on WTKA. UM fan. Entertainment value to the max when the locals call in. Obscenely obsessed with MSU, easy to get his goat.
National sports radio does next to nothing for me. Coward, Rome, ect. are talented without question, but I can't handle national sports topics. TO did _____ this weekend WOW..... PacMan Jones throws $1's at whores ooooo looky. Brett Farve can't make his mind up, ahhhhh! NFL NFL NFL NFLeBron! BLAH. BORING.

I listen all the time. It's like a bad car wreck - I can't turn my head. Sometimes I'm listening just to see what they are going to say to piss me off

I do wish Wojo was back on the air.

I don't listen to the national shows at all. I really don't care that much about atheletes on other teams that don't play in MI.
