Div. 2 LeMoyne 82 Syracuse 79
Exhibition Ouch. Watched a little bit of it. LeMoyne has a 6'8" C/PF that was pretty impressive.

Grand Valley State Beats Michigan State 85-82 In Double Overtime In Exhibition
Was the Cuse #8 in the country? Chill out.
Grand Valley State Beats Michigan State 85-82 In Double Overtime In Exhibition - MICHIGAN STATE OFFICIAL ATHLETIC SITE

Freshman Chris Allen led MSU with 15 points in Friday's exhibition contest against Grand Valley State.

EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) -Division II Grand Valley State stunned No. 8 Michigan State, the Big Ten favorite, 85-82 in two overtimes Friday night in an exhibition game.
Jason Jamerson had 19 points for the Lakers, while Justin Ringler had 16, including a three-point play at the end of regulation. Callistus Eziukwu of Grand Valley State had eight of his 15 points in the second overtime.
The Spartans shouldn't have been shocked at the loss since they trailed the Lakers for more than 38 minutes before escaping with a win last season. This time, Grand Valley controlled the game for most of its 50 minutes.
The Lakers, an Elite Eight team last March, rallied from a 65-63 deficit in the final 15 seconds of regulation and were down 75-71 in the last minute of the first overtime. Grand Valley State never trailed in the second overtime.
Chris Allen led Michigan State with 15 points, while fellow freshman Kalin Lucas had 12. Drew Neitzel, the preseason Big Ten Player of the Year, failed to score until a 3-pointer bounced in with 13:43 left in the second half. Neitzel finished with 12 points but was just 3-for-15 from the field.
The Lakers finished with a 44-41 rebounding edge and a 27-12 advantage from 3-point range.
The night began with a pep rally for the Michigan State football team on the eve of its matchup with archrival Michigan. Coach Mark Dantonio and co-captain Travis Key spoke to the sellout crowd before the coaches and players formed a tunnel to welcome the basketball team.

I don't see what benefit schools get out of playing these exhibition games against schools you've never heard of. Players could get injured in some meaningless game, fans don't enjoy the game, players aren't motivated and if you happen to lose, it looks bad.
Teams should scrap these games.

It's two extra games and you get to work the kinks out before playing games that the Selection Committee will actually look at.
Sure, if you lose you get slaughtered in the polls, but unlike football the polls don't determine who does and does not get to play for a championship.

And we were laughed at for losing to SVSU. Why can't we laugh in return?

Dayton only won by 13 to DII Ferris State from Big Rapids also tonight. Close game throughout, I think Dayton is AP #13

Exactly, playing a real team is better than those stupid "all star" teams that college teams used to play.
Athletes in Action, Marathon Oil, EA Sports All-Stars, etc. Those teams were awful. I do miss the Athletes in Action halftime speeches about Jesus though.

Well if you want to, fine.
I won't because I remember walverines trying to convince everyone that losing a practice to a Div. 2 team counted for something back then when it didn't.
Just because it happened to someone else now doesn't mean it counts either.

Yeah, and in 2007, that Grand Valley loss was a sign of bad things to come for that team. That team was WAY overrated at the start of the year, and that loss was the starting point of showing that.
This is not good for Syracuse.

If I got to play the card that the GVSU game never counted and didn't happen, so can Cuse.

And if I remember correctly, the GVSU game was the day before the "little brother" game. That was a bad weekend for MSU sports.
