If the kid went to MSU, Lewwy would be drooling over him.

A 6'4 PG with Lucas like quickness, Summers like leaping and dunking ability (probaby better), incredible vision and good strength. You're right, he sucks.

yeah, this is going to become the most bumped non-MSU thread of the year, for sure.

Lewwy, as everyone else has already pointed out, Wall displays a rare ability to see the floor and elude defenders, creating opportunities not only for himself to score, but for his teammates to score. Couple his apparent Basketball IQ with elite athleticism and you are going to get a very good player. He is going to be pretty special.

Yes. And with Patrick Patterson down lown for Kentucky, Wall is going to get tons of assists. I wouldn't be surprised if his average stats are something like 13pts, 9assts, 4rbs, 2.5stl, 1blk.

Couple Things from the vid:
1. Crossover at 2:50 is just plain nasty especially for someone who is 6'4".
2. He is ambidextrous. He is right handed but over 50% of the dunks were with his left hand. He might be one of the best finishers for this season.
3. Don't know about his defensive ability yet although it is proven that he can block shots.

Edit 4 minute Video Clip and I saw 2 jumpshots, you think the kid is going to score 25 points a night dunking the ball and doing 360 layups, that is what is wrong with basketball today and you sir are what is wrong with the average fan today.

Could not agree more...i gave up after 90 seconds and nothing but playground crap vs. ZERO defense. If he thinks he's going to come into the NCAA and pull that crap he's going to be sorely disappointed. He might have some hops, but lets see him play some defense and shoot a jump shot from more than 12 feet away...being an athlete is great and all, but he's not going to be able to dunk all day with no one challenging him.

Wall is a dominate athlete and will be on Sportscenter top plays probably 20 to 25 times. Thats just the player he is. No one is claiming he is a true floor leader or a great passer. As for the jump shot comments, we really dont know if he can hit a jump shot or not because in high school it wasn't that he couldn't he just didn't need to, all he had to do was drive and score. In college, you're right he wont be able to drive every time but his jump shot is fine. He will put up 18 to 20 a night and definitely be in the POY talks and is nearly a lock for Freshman of the year depending on Favors at GT.

Lewwy, with all due respect, you sir are an idiot. Obviously the video was meant to entertain. No one wants to see Wall spotting up for threes or taking one dribble and shooting from the elbow. However, the video did show his athleticism and ability to see the court. There are plenty of guards who were not very good shooters( Lucas, Wade, T. Evans, Rose), yet found ways to score and get others involved.

Trust me this kid is the real deal and will continue to develop into a star. I'm no fan of coach Cal or Kentucky, but I'm also not ignorant. With the players he has around him I think he will be able to put up numbers worth of POTY consideration. No doubt.

I think the kid will be good, not POTY good, and I do not know how you could make the case for that based on that video which is probably for the most part what anyone who has commented here has seen.

Yes he does, I can name lots of athletes tho, that have not "lived up to hype" in college sports tho that were highly recruited because they were "Athletic"

I would be excited no doubt, even if we did not have the depth like Kentucky, I still would find it foolish to discuss him in POTY discussion before he has played his first College game.

I am sure it does, more so in the offseason when Kentucky is drilling Ausin Peav, Sam Houston State, Drexel etc not as much when he enters league play, the SEC is not good, but it has a lot of average teams. Anytime you start 3 freshman which I believe is highly likely for Kentucky that is tough.

I never considered Lucas a strong player under the basket, he uses body positioning more than pure strenght when he finishes "strong" underneath. Wall is 3 inches taller than Lucas and 5 lbs heavier, take that for what its worth.

Those are great numbers for a freshman but not POTY type stats. I would guess 3 more points, 2 less assists, .75 less steals btw,

So if a video is meant to entertain, how can you judge his talent by that? Have you seen him play? Have you seen him play defense? Defense is half the game, if the kid is scoring 20 points a game but giving up 25 his points are moot.

My debate is not in the athletic ability of the kid, not in the fact that he has a lot of potential. My debate is in Player of the year talk for a freshman that from what a lot of have seen is just flashy passes and dunks. Sounds like a lot of you are just deer in ESPN's headlights. Let the kid play some games before you start saying stuff like POTY. The transition from HS bball to College is a big transition just like College to Pro Is.

Lewwy, my guess is the press who is talking about POY have seen a lot more film than this highlight video. And the NBA experts who look at this kid as the top pick know what they are talking about.

It remains to be seen how good he will be but I don't scoff at the POY talk from experts. Nobody is saying this is a sure thing by the way. He's one of many candidates.

Kalvin Troberg was preseason 3rd team all big ten before his Freshman year and most people believe he would've been a lottery pick if he came out from HS.

Just sayin'

His issue is money he's getting from agents.

I know it's tough to keep the "Why did the Final Four get vacated" when dealing with Calipari. I would write it down so you don't forget in September 2010 when the **** hits the fan.

He's 6'4, blazing speed, has the ball literally on a string, has an unstoppable spin move and ridiculous court vision. Not to mention he has Shannon Brown like athleticism with a longer wingspan. Plus he looks like a shot blocking machine.. from the PG position. His jumper looked fine form wise but I doubt he will need it all that much, even in college.

I can't imagine any defender being able to stay in front of him, at least till he gets to the NBA where he'll need to develop a jump shot like Wade has to keep defenses honest.

Wall had 27 points, 9 assists, 4 rebounds, 1 steal and 1 block in Kentucky's exhibition win over Clarion.

He shot 10 of 14 from the field and hit 6 of 7 free throws.

Obviously the dude sucks.

Listening to Katz podcast and the topic is National Player of the Year, the second or third name to roll off his tounge is John Wall. He has not even played a game and I can not stand the kid. I hope Kentucky gets bounced in first round of Tourny, he has average year, goes Pro and fails. IMO players have a idea when a coach is a shady character, so in a sense that makes them shady (spare me with the kid bs). Calipari recruits scumbags because that is what he is and that concludes my rant.
