I just got an email blast from MSU about a free sample Live Sports Radio program this weekend for the Western Game. It sounds like a good deal, they are giving away sample radios to season ticket holders to use for the rest of football season and all of basketball season.

I bought 4 from the cheerleaders at one of the first games of the year (one for each seat I have tickets for)...

So much so, that the battery in one of them is already dead (someone left it on overnight).

They are awesome!! If you order batteries however, do not order them through the www.freesportsradio.com web site. Get them on Amazon. On the radio site, they are $5.00 per battery and on Amazon, they are $5.99 for a 10 pack.

Can be used football/basketball, home and away. I used mine at Minnesota this weekend.

As more and more people get on a 3G or 4G network with a smart phone which can get internet radio (I'm not sure campus wireless works in the stadium) the market for these is going to die....

Plus, how is this different from bringing a walk man (they still make em!) into the game, and just listening to that feed?

The feed on the radio isn't live, it's delayed by anywhere from 10-15 seconds, which means you're hearing the play-by-play from first down while second down is being played. There's even more delay on internet radio broadcasts.

These things are cool because they pick up a separate feed broadcast from within the stadium that has no delay, so you're hearing Blaha call it while it's happening.
