Good chance one or more of the above will happen.

By negativity you mean our crappy football team, right?

I never understood the whole "I hope you're not saying that next year!" arguments. Yeah dude, if we're a top 15 team next year, nobody is going to talking about how we might not beat Western/Purdue and how we might miss a bowl. But we aren't a top 15 team. We suck. We're 4-5, we've lost to CMU, got destroyed by Wisconsin, and crapped the bed in Minnesota. We almost gave away the game to Michigan, choked at Notre Dame, and we blew the Iowa game. So loathe this 'negativity' all you want, but the facts remain that this extremely talented football team has underacheived and underperformed all year, gone far below expectations and is now fighting for a .500 record and a chance to go to the Motor City Bowl. That makes me sick, not this perceived negativity.

You and I speak for the normal Spartan. The normal Spartan feels this way and is pissed off as hell. That is why they get a kick out of guys like you and me who rip apart these apologist sunshine blowing idiots at times. Coaching mistakes cost this team. The two qb system lost games this year. I feel sorry for the kids, because despite all the blame it on JLS and we aren't that talented crap to deflect criticism from the coaching staff, they deserve better. I can't wait until next year!!! Of course, I have been saying that since 1980.

I guess I just get more enjoyment out of life going into each week/season expecting to win games. I dont see the fun of expecting to lose each week and getting your only thrills from coming on here and sayin "I told you so". Its just not for me. The way I see it is that outside of Wisconsin we have been in serious contention for a win. At some point the balls will bounce our way and we will win the big one. Ill say that this week and if we lose to Western Ill say it the next, and the next, and the next. If you dont go in excited and ready for the win, wheres the fun? And dont give me the "we've suffered long enough" crap, times are changing and at least we have an amazing basketball ball program. Think of all the schools that cant say that.

This season has not gone as planned. Bad luck. Bad fumbles. Bad schemes. Bad refs. Bad play calls. Bad drops. With all this, every loss has been VERY close. It's one of those years. But this team is getting lessons you learn only the hard way. They are very, very talented. And very young. They are inexperienced and getting the needed experience. They are soooo close. Western comes at a perfect time to flush out the problems, get healthy and get right. This team has been on an emotional rollercoaster that has not been kind. But all the way they have fought and not given up even once, like past teams. Even when they get burned, they get back up and fight to the end. This year is different. Dantonio IS building. This team IS different. And the ending WILL be different. Look for domination in the final 3 games. PSU will go down. A great bowl game as a reward. And a convincing bowl win over a better team for a cap to an overall very good season. We ARE moving forward. No pain no gain. Don't give up.

GO STATE

I foresee 7-6 overall which ain't bad considering where we've gotten ourselves. MSU has been in every game. Freak onsides kick vs CMU, overthrow to all alone Caper in the endzone with <1 minute against ND, Iowa and Minnesota both could have gone the otherway. I expect MSU will continue to play hard and finally be rewarded with a couple of wins. Best 4-5 team ever (God I hate saying that!).

This is exactly what I'm talking about. Some will say that games like CMU and Minny they should have never let it get close since. However, even the best teams in the land (Fla, Ala, USC, etc.) get scares from much lesser teams then them. In our case, we just aren't winning these games and the other teams are making miraculous plays to just beat us. Its just bad luck this year, but it is BUILDING TOUGHNESS, mentally and physically, and character. it's going to pay off big time the last three games and next year. Count on it!! I know it's just a lot of sunshine right now, but I'm not usually a sunshine blower, just calling it as I see it.

This reminds me of the 2006 season (I think it was '06), where we lost all our games by less than 7 or 8, and everyone kept saying, "Well we're so close, if this play, and that play.....(30 minutes later)...or this play was different we could be Big10 champs."...NO!!!! That's not how it works, you win or you lose. Every team, not just MSU, would love to take back numerous plays throughout the season, but you can't. If you can't win the close ones, get off the ground and admit you lost and they were the better team. We can't sit here and say, "we'll we were competitive and we SHOULD HAVE won" It doesn't work that way. We're not as good as people think, I'm guilty of saying in the beginning of the year that I thought we'd win at least 8 games, but in reality I see we're just not that good. And for the bounces going out way, we had that, OT vs scUM. I rather rely on our talent, and not lucky bounces, and sadly we don't have that talent, at least not yet.

GO GREEN! BEAT WESTERN!

Time to drink.

Hey, I drink the "Aid" every season and will always try and keep a positive outlook on things but this year hasn't exactly lived up to expectations. I love your positive outlook on the rest of the season but I have to agree with Tan and Artie Loves pancakes and
say that this team WAY too talented to be 4-5.

Now relax, and let me buy you a drink! I'm right sitting on the stool next to you!

The fact of the matter is about 90% of this board predicted 7-9 wins. (I thought 8-4 but didn't see the CMU debacle of course) Every other game has had a pretty predictable OUTCOME. The way we lose is what kicks everyone in the nuts. It'd be nice to explode today and have a laugher to build some momentum going into W.Lafeyette. As for beating PSU...we just about ALWAYS win a game we shouldn't and that hasn't happened yet this year so..........I think it's very possible (albeit not that probable) we put together our best game of the year for seniors like White, Swenson, etc....to send them out on a winning note......part of being an alum like alot of us is not losing hope. ON the other hand what'd Red say in Shawshank Redemption about hope?

"Let me tell you something my friend. Hope is a dangerous thing. Hope can drive a man insane"

.............so there's always that too...................
