Another poster speculated that the driver was drunk. My speculation was toward the young man. The storyline thus far points in that direction.

Jesus, this is an awful story. My thoughts are with the young man's family. Does anyone know if perhaps this young man has ever posted on this board? Fits the profile. Young, Hockey fan, likes to get a bit crazy. Seems like the perfect sterotype for the college age RCMB kid.

They released the name in some recent articles, so sad. So the story is now he and his frat buds were getting a little rowdy in the game and security was trying to throw them out for doing something. Apparently, this kid went outside to elude security and hid under a bus. Was texting his buds to see when it was clear to come out, and when he then came out got hit by the caddy and dragged for miles. Certainly some juvinille behavior, and was prolly pretty toasted to make such bad decisions, but obviously didn't deserve to be dragged for miles like that. I hope they catch the a hole and give him what he deserves. Guaranteed he has no license, insurance and a long record of violations, etc. prolly DUI's.
Anyone know him or his friends to know more of what happened?

Why would this guy hide under a bus, after he already left the game? Security wouldn't be after his ass anymore after he left JLA

so there was no Cadillac? how did that become part of the story? And as bad as I feel for his family, what kind of moron hides under a bus in downtown detroit?

The 19-year-old Michigan State University student who died after Thursday night’s Red Wings game Hockey Game at the Joe Louis Arena has been identified as Ryan Rosman of West Bloomfield.
Detroit Police Department spokesman John Roach said today that the incident was not a hit-and-run, as previously reported, but that friends told police Rosman, for reasons that are unclear, was hiding under a tour bus nearby, which then drove off, dragging him with it up Washington Boulevard.
His body was left near Michigan Avenue. The incident is being viewed as “strictly accidental,” said Roach

Apparently he was drunk and had recently gotten in trouble for underage drinking. After the Joe security was threatening to kick them out and/or detain them and wait for the police, he fled the building and hid outside under the bus until the coast was clear. I was also told that he and his friends rented a party bus to take down to the game, but I'm not sure if that had anything to do with the eventual tragedy other than providing a venue for them to illegally get ****faced on the way to the game.
Terrible situation. I really feel for the family. I'm sure most of us on here can relate to getting a little too drunk at a sporting event and making poor decisions.
For all those posters who used this thread to push their own agenda/make inappropriate jokes, I hope you burn in hell.

honestly i can't say i know ryan as a friend.. but i have come to see him at different events either at msu hillel or at his fraternity...this kid always had a smile on his face and appeared to be a great kind person, and i know know he was loved by many. what happend at jla was both stupid and tragic and my heart goes out to all that care about him.
to my knowledge the reason he hid was because he and other people he was with felt like they were being watched by police for underage drinking. again i dont understand how someone could make a joke about this, was it misguided yes, but to make fun about the death of a fellow spartan makes you look like childish ***** holes who get off on seeing others in pain...

So if you have already been pinched for underage drinking it is advisable not to go to Joe Louis, drink again and then hide.
A tragedy for so many people because of one dumb decision.

So it sounds like they had reasons to be afraid of being watched by the cops. Because of course, every cop, in every venue, in every city knew him and was out to get him, unless he had previously been in trouble and then did something at or around JLA to CAUSE the cops to come after him, in which case there is no one else to blame.
Sigh.
OF COURSE my heart goes out to the family, but this sounds like a whole bunch of stupid decisions and someone who didn't learn their lesson. RIP Ryan.
