Twice at small clinics and once for a picture and he's given all of his skates away. If you can, watch the interview on channel 4 tonight with him. Pure and absolute class. He said after the season he tried really hard to get back into shape, but couldn't get to a "starting point" to even get near Pavel and those guys, so he just was honest with himself and said screw it, it's over. I'm amazed that in three and 1/2 years he's found the ice only three times.

I know the feeling.....after many less years (and much less success) than Stevie Y. when I left the game I didn't skate once in over 14 years. Lots of NHLers we work with do not skate at all in off season training and workouts.

I recently have started some beer league play, but for a long time my feet & ankles were so battered from hockey, I had zero desire to lace'em up again, even for fun. Newer skates are Waaaaay different than what was used even 10 years ago, (let alone what I used) and actually pretty comfortable. But a lifetime of blocked shots & slashes will take the fun out of skating.......
