We have a winner. My favorite meal is a great steak. But I love sushi, too. I wouldn't eat either one every night, so it's great to have options. For what it's worth, I also like Italian, Indian, Ethiopian, Chinese, Vietnamese, Mexican, and American cuisine...

Spicy Tuna Roll!!!
Watch out with the wasabi on eel and octopus, for some reason the chemicals react and increase the potency of the wasabi.
If raw fish didn't cost so much, I could live off a diet of just fish.
That being said, if you don't like it, good for me, you should be a vegan!

So, what I have gathered thus far is that sushi is good just because and it is good for you.
I will stick with steak if I am looking for a treat. Thanks for the input!

Serious response?
It grows on you, it's just a different taste. I come from a very meat n' potatoes family, but I have eaten sushi occasionally since getting out here in California. It's pretty good if you can find something you like, there's a lot of variety. I wouldn't eat it every day though, and I eat it far less than I eat other types of food.

This doesn't help, but sushi just isn't the same here in the US. I never "loved" it until I ate sushi in Japan. In a similar way, American food isn't the same in Japan.

Not really, unless you are eating raw shrimp or crab, or your waiter didn't wash his hands after taking a crap

See, I didn't notice any difference (or at least not a huge one). On the other hand, I didn't go to gourmet sushi places in Japan, and I can't really tell TOO much of a difference between sushi generally.

I ate at some really expensive places in Japan and the sushi is a lot better than here. I hate uni here, but in Japan it is very tasty. Still, I would probably pick Kobe beef over sushi if I was in Japan.

I was just about to mention that. We did drop some $ (Y?) for a nice place in Kyoto, and they gave me some sort of beef (I think Kobe) which was incredible. It was like awesome steak with the consistency of chicken.

I'm married to my Japanese tour guide, so I know the places to go. Also anywhere near Tsukiji fish market is good. I still enjoy sushi here, but we don't really go out to EL for sushi. We do like Fuji in Madison Hts., mostly for quantity and decent quality.

Dude....no. There were some pretty good responses. I will have to read than again in the morning when sober. I am still trying to digest the awesome ribs I ate this afternoon at Pappy's in St. Louis.
Bottom line is that I have tried shushi several times and I just can't seem to enjoy it. So many people like it though so there must be something to it.

I'm interested to hear what you expected to get out of this. What would it have taken to "sell" you on sushi? What if eating it made big boibey'd tramps want to make out with you?
