Important Michigan football: How they are skirting NCAA practice rules

Okay guys, I just got back. I had to call our fearless leader with this info, it's so f'n juicy.

Anyway, I know a father of one of the guys on the team. Well, a few drinks in this story starts to come out. I get him to tell me what his son had to say, after bull****ting about Les Miles, the boosters, all the typical "it's all going to be okay" BS that programs in trouble tell themselves.

So in between "Les Miles is the savior" and "Lloyd Carr was a bum" I get this nugget:

The dad asked his son (who btw rooms with a QB on the team ) about it and he said, "Dad, we practice about 44 hours a week the last few weeks. We show up and start practicing, then when the coaches show up and blow the whistle, we go over to take a drink and sign in on the log to attest that we started practice. That's when practice would actually START. We'd do the NCAA allotted practice, then they'd blow the whistle again for a water break, that's when we'd sign out from practice. We'd all then meander back to continue to practice."

This is when it hit home that he was telling the truth, when the kid tried to justify it...

"Dad everyone does it. If we were to practice as much as we did when coach Carr was there, we'd have won National Championships."

Really?

This kid basically admitted to his dad (who blabbed to me) that they do violate NCAA rules and that everyone does it. I just shut my mouth and didn't bother defending . I wanted more info out of him.

He said that his son and the program are laughing at the NCAA because they say that all the players signed in and out of logs...so that's "all the NCAA can prove."

The dude seemed so smug about it like his son got away with it. Again, I just shut my mouth and let him keep talking.

"In order for us to be competitive, coach has us practicing all the time."

And the kicker, "Dad, I would have been a starter if Coach Carr would have done this."

I'm and can't believe he's basically ratting his kid's program out just because he wants to impress me with a story.

I'm thinking the WHOLE time that this dude really has no idea where my loyalties lie.

Idiots. I hope the NCAA looks beyond the cooked up BS and zaps them with sanctions.

(Anectdotally, I cracked up listening to him rip Carr. I even pointed out that he was the only UM coach since the Nazis to win a NC and even that was a 1/2 a NC. He just kept on going on and on and on...)

He seems to think that Martin's retirement is coordinated to get Dick Rod out w/ NCAA sanctions that will negate the severance package they have to pay him. That's what the players are talking about!

Even if it's not true...

If proven SCUM will be in trouble. If it could be done by SCUM, it could be done by any coach in any sport at any school. A student athlete on scholarship should not be required to practice more than the allotted time.
Very few athletes will ever make the pros, they will have to get a degree and be able to function as college grads in the business world. Running "zig outs" for 6 hours a day for 4 years is not conducive to that end.

So the coaches stay after the practice?

I could not tell from your description. After the water break at the end of practice, the coaches stay and watch and coach?

After the water break is when the chocolate milk is administered. The new WOTS is the "Barwis effect" doesn't kick in until year 3. Also, Lloyd left the cupboard so bare that DickRod's usual 2nd year turnaround will be delayed until year 3 at SCum.

It's all true. Wait 'til the NCAA uncovers the General Studies "program".

WOTS is Rosenberg's been holding back the most damning evidence to make another big splash.

He crossed the line in the Roy Williams thread. Comments about Williams and his dead mother that deserved banning.

the thing about him saying all NCAA teams do it is pretty much true. can't really argue with it. the problem is though is that some players thought it was so bad to make issue of it, even against their own team.

Substitute MSU for Michigan and Dantonio for Rodriguez, and this thread would be deleted -- which this should be.

Don't understand the hub bub in this thread. Why should it be deleted? Just a little inside insight into what the current investigation is looking for.
