Play Boise, Spartans
I for one would love to see us bite (of course, I know we won't!)
Boise BCS blocked - College Football - Rivals.com
There was a time when we played a bad arse nc sked. Boise is no longer a bad loss and would be a great win for us!

Plus we could brag for two years that we had the balls to play them when no one else did.

It's a better home game than Montana State. . . .or Youngstown State.

I would like to play them.
I think we have a much better shot at beating Boise then some teams ranked around them (USC, Texas, ect...)

Hell yeah. All for this.
We probably wouldn't help their resume though....

While I would be greatly in favor of this, our 2011 schedule is already set, with Yongstown State, Florida Atlantic, Notre Dame, and Central Michigan as our non-conference slate. The only one we'd possibly bounce for Boise State would be Youngstown, which is our season opener and would probably cost some significant coin. Though if Boise truly is this desperate they probably could be convinced to contribute to whatever payoff we'd have to pay YSU.
From a football standpoint, I'd love it. This would be year 5 of Dantonio's stint at MSU, he'd have his guys in from top to bottom, and if we see the same level of success we've been seeing that could be a great start to the season.

You have to believe Izzo is going to push Hollis and MD to do this. "Anyone, anywhere, anytime."

LOVE the dig at Perlman and Nebraska....he's a giant ********* and needs to sack up or stfu. NE losing to Boise would be an awesome middle finger to that elitist douche....which is, of course, while it will never happen

I'd do it. Who the hell wants to watch Youngstown State? I wonder what the dollars are?
I like that Boise isn't asking for a return trip...their blue field makes me nauseous

450,000 is usually the fee to D1-AA Schools

I agree with the idea that you have to play tough competition. But basketball is completely different than football in that regard. Basketball's postseason is all about your resume, your full body of work over 30ish games. Football isn't like that. You have 12 games and every win counts. A single win can be the difference between playing in a bowl and watching from home. There's also the issue of an increased risk of injuries as a result of playing higher levels of competition.
MSU should schedule challenging games, but to approach the matter like Izzo does is crazy.

Looking at the blue turf is still more tolerable than looking at finalfouru's website.

What about when Perles used to play a Florida school, ND (and not Capt. Frontbutt's ND but good ND) and a MAC? We wouldn't have to replace Youngstown. The better dump would be Fla Atlantic, IMO.

Dunno. If Boise's really chomping at the bit, however, you could probably get them to take care of at least half of the buyout, especially since no one else appears to be interested.

And that's the only reason we'd consider it. If it makes monetary sense, and Dantonio thinks the program is where it needs to be in year five, Boise State as the season opener might be a nice way to start the year off. Someone might want to send that article to Hollis, though I'm guessing he already knows.

If BSU wants a game so bad they should agree to accept a fee that's just enough to cover their expenses for the trip.
