My girlfriend's dad: Advise
Watching football all day with him while my girl and her mom are out shopping. This is the longest I have spent with him. He has been commenting on hot girls outside and on TV. Is this a trap or is he really cool?
FTR: I did NOT comment on these said hotties. It was getting awkward though.

If it is a trap he's a jackass. I'd just glare at you and make sure you knew that if you hurt my daughter I'd rip your arms off and beat you over the head with them.
Then I'd offer you a beer.
There's no use being friends with your daughter's boyfriend. Just have a courteous relationship with him... He should fear you at least a bit.

oh lord. I felt this way about a former boss. Second day on the job we went out to lunch and he started hitting on the waitress. Here was a line he dropped from that lunch: Me (to waitress): "I'll just have water to drink." Him: "Hi honey, I'll also have a water, but make mine with diet coke and Jim Beam."  So awkward...

It's neither a trap nor is he really cool. Well, he could be cool, but the reasoning behind the comments is that the poor chap isn't getting any from his wife and was storing more material in his spank bank. You happened to be sitting near him when he was doing that.
