Can We Rework the Land Grant Tophy

I was watching the story on the BTN about the crafting of the Land of Lincoln trophy. It is a bronze replica of Lincoln's iconic stove pipe hat. It is much classier than the overgrown bowling trophy that is the land grant trophy.

How about the winner of the game on Saturday selects an artist to rework the trophy into something not so ugly. The first thing to do is get rid of the football player on top. A bust of Justin Morrill would more appropriate. About all I would save would be the score plaques.

It's still a shame that Illinois and Northwestern had to get rid of the Sweet Sioux Tomahawk...

How about some clear type of cube with "land" (read: grass) (Read: not the kind you smoke) (Read: but if you were going to do that you should use 'kind') inside.

Or something with the paper decree/law/grant creating land grant universities on it.

Anything other than this amateur hour **** we have now.

I'm sure that John L. Smith left some crap in his office that would make a better trophy.

Think about how awesome it would be to watch MSU and PSU slug it out for "The John L. Smith Blueberry Pie Eating Contest Trophy". Now there's a trophy that would mean something.

That looks like a trophy that a 5 year old would design. Except, a 5 year old would at least put something sweet on it, like a jetpack.

We should be playing for the Rusty Old _________ (insert farm tool here) Trophy. Just make sure the team has their tetanus shots up to date!

What would really be cool is some kind of trophy that had the early M.A.C logo and whatever early Ag. school logo PSU had back in the day on it. Make something classy. This current one is straight up horse ****.

That trophy is a camel, a horse designed by committee.
