Looks like Mangino might get canned...partly because of his fatness

The guy has put Kansas football on the map, but because he weighs 450-500lbs this might be his downfall. Leave it to 325lb Whitlock to write about it:

If you are a Division I NCAA athlete -- even BAD Division I athletes (yes including fat linemen) are better athletes than 99.5% of the general public -- what is your reaction when some tub of guts like Mangino or Weis waddles into your face and screams that you have to get faster, stronger, quicker, etc etc etc?

At least mangino played the game.

Maybe if you don't listen to them you get eaten? I'm sure they've got fast hands when to food plate comes around.

We could win a BCS bowl and Sharpe would say we are not elite unless we do it 10 years in a row.

This flies right in the face of everything I've ever heard or known about fat people. Ever since I was a little boy I was told they were all jolly. What in the world is happening in America when fat people can't put a smile on your face? There must be something in the gravy.

Like it or not, Whitlock is spot on. You don't see obese NFL coaches. That's one of the reason's Charley was passed over multiple times and why he ended up having bariatric surgery so he could "look" like a coach. One of my friends is a big ND booster and he's said if Charly had shown up at ND with the 100-125 pound he lost through surgery they would have passed on him.

Amstutz had some very good years at Toledo but I can tell you other coaches used his appearance as a negative recruiting tool. Hell, look at MSU. It didn't take too long before there was as much attention to George's waistline as there was to his win loss record.

Mangino is in trouble for his actions but those just go away if he's winning and/or 100 pounds lighter.

Whitlock is not spot on - unless you believe that Magino has anger management issues because he is fat.

No, he was fired because he lost a lot of games, and one of the reasons he lost a lot of games was that the team, by and large, was fat, slow and out of shape, and it is certainly possible they got that way because subconsciously they felt since their coach was fat, slow and out of shape, it was impossible to take him seriously when he yelled at them that they had to get faster, stronger and in better shape.

Todd Reesing ****s the bed his senior year and it's b/c Mangino is fat. God, the media sucks.

edit- Not **** the bed by Big Ten standards-but not putting up his numbers of the past 2 years. Jake Sharp not having a stellar senior year either battling injuries.

Or- Maybe the Big12 is putting an emphasis on defense this year.

My point is you can last longer even when you are losing if you appear fit. Losing and fat just gets you out the door quicker.

ps
I'm 6'4" and 220#. I just know that I have seen engineers, site foremen, project managers and other management types who were 275-300 plus get bounced from jobs while people who weren't as effective but looked fit lasted much longer.

Jabba's frontbutt is more pronounced, but Mangino's head looks like a basketball. I am not sure which one is more gross looking.

Someone needs to post the pic of Mangino next to the Syracuse mascot.
