I know the call was obviously wrong, but it's nice that national press (not just Red Wings writers and fans) are calling out the NHL for ****ing it up......

Probably the worst call I've seen in the past 20 years of hockey. What is the point of replay if you can't use it properly. And then Bettman and the rest of the idiots that run the NHL wonder why ESPN would rather air women's basketball.

It is clear that May's shot was considered to be after the referee intended to blow the whistle. He intended to blow the whistle after Abdelkader's shot (but didn't). That is confirmed by the play-by-play of the game:

The play was dead by the time May shot the puck and that cannot be reviewed. I think it's a total cop out by LaRue and that he lied when he told Toronto that he intended to blow the play dead when Abdelkader's shot hit Auld, since he didn't blow it until 3 seconds after the puck was frozen in the net by Auld.

While amazingly frank, that isn't much of an explanation. It boils down to, "The ref was wrong, and hasn't told us why he wouldn't reverse the call yet."

The worst thing about the Bettwoman NHL is the refusal to admit errors. Everyone that saw the play knows that an error was made. Everyone that saw the Hull SC winning goal for Dallas knows that it shouldn't have counted (at least the way they were calling the in the crease rule that season - I agree that it should have been a good goal - but the way they were calling it that season it should have been called off). All they've done is spin this as " the whistle intent" ****, the Abs shot was 10 seconds before the whistle blew & they are saying that he intended to blow his whistle? The ******* can't blow his whistle in 10 seconds? Man up NHL & just ****ing admit that a mistake was made.
