Best Cell Phone Service, Plan and Smartphone
I just graduated from MSU in May and am moving off the parent's cell phone plan. I need to find a reasonably priced cell phone service with minimal texting. I am also looking to buy a PDA/Smartphone type device. Any ideas? Thanks

I have worked in the cell phone business for 6+ years now. Personally, I'd recommend Sprint. AT&T and Verizon customers will try and scream that they're way better but they're really not. Sprint's plans are much cheaper, coverage and phones are both good too.
With most smart phones now a days you have to get an unlimited text/internet package. So if you were looking to avoid that I'd suggest just getting a slider type with a full keypad.
If you want more details PM me, I can hook it up for ya

My experience is...
sprint has the best price for data plans and phones.... phone is cheaper and some coverage may not be the best but i've never had an issue, ESPECIALLY in big towns.
Verizon is more expensive for the same stuff, but there phones have more trendy and popular models.
At&t has one of the worst coverage for 3g, but they have the iphone which is super trendy. If you're going for bang for your buck, sprint. if you want guaranteed service with a trendy/good phone, verizon. if you want an iphone, at&t.
the coverage shouldn't be an issue if you're in a big city or nearby... its when you start venturing off into the boondocks is when you need to look at coverage maps

This man speaks some truth. 95% of the time, you're gonna get relatively same coverage with any company in a certain area. I've had Sprint for six years and the only time I've ever not gotten service was when I rented a cottage along the shores of the Grand River last summer. I don't see why people care too much about that anyways, there's free roaming and I just set my phone to "roam only" for the week and got along fine. Go with Sprint man, its EASILY the best deal.

lol. punisher... chill. how long you worked @ sprint though?
when you compare the plans side to side... verizon gives you more minutes per plan, but there prices don't justify the large gap. Sprint is the cheapest with great service. i'd recommend them, but you're on the internet and i don't really care if you take my posts and poop on them.

Me chill? I'm trying to give some guy legit advice and I of course have to deal with some nerd with 7,000 posts in two years saying I'm trying to make a sale with it.
Fact is I have worked with 'em for over six years and know the game inside and out. Sprint has unlimited mobile to mobile for all networks now if you get a data plan so minutes are meaningless. To be honest, minutes weren't even really an issue before it.
Basically when it comes down to it for the difference in price Sprint is well worth it over any other company. The service is just fine. (Oh, and we also can sell AT&T and T-Mobile at my location too, so non-biased I think Sprint is by far the best provider.)

Yeah. I'm 21 working my way through school at a job much better than any of my friends have. Very nerdish of me...
Schlepping? I know what I'm doing and what I'm talking about, sorry if I wanted to give this dude a little advice. Never said anywhere he had to come buy anything from me.
Why don't you lighten up Francis? Nobody was speaking to you, you just don't have anything better to do.
