There's a lot of smoke suggesting DickRod may not survive an azz-pounding tomorrow.
Wilbon's article stating a friend of DickRod's saying no way he is back at AA next year. MS. Coleman would not comment yesterday about her coach when she initially said she was behind him 100%. Reports mysteriously appearing concerning football not filing proper forms, AD is "retiring...."
Someone is setting the table for a house cleaning....
NOOOOOOOO!!!!!

name one school that has had an Athletic Director, former coach and President come forward in support of the coach and him being canned that weekend? you can be as "lol RR lol" as you want but from a business, school or program standpoint, none of those things would make sense and would cause more damage if the coach was in fact let go.
stay excited Spartans, RR is obviously going to be around next year.
ETA: reports mysteriously appearing? they were part of an audit that was to be discussed as part of the Regents meeting. sometimes you guys try a bit too hard.

Spokesman Kelly Cunningham said Coleman would not address an ongoing NCAA investigation into whether Michigan's football program exceeded mandated practice limits last year.
"She supports the coach and she supports the football team," Cunningham said.

We have some scum alums at my kids school. Although they aren't happy, almost everyone of them is willing to give him another year. but they have cooled on RR compared to last year.

If UM loses to OSU (like they probably will), the AD should fire Rich Rod in the middle of the field with a microphone, make it a very big deal. Something to celebrate about in the calamity of these two years of hilarity.

Now that would be funny.
This whole RR thing is a complicated matter. At first I thought, there's no way that Bill Martin fires 'his guy,' and since Martin will be around until September then RR will get a third year. And whomever Mary Sue Coleman hires will determine RR's fate... If she hires someone that is squarely behind him he may stay, but if she hires someone that wants a different direction he's obviously gone. I thought it was all going to come down to Mary Sue Coleman and a new AD.
But the more that I've thought about it, I wonder if Bill Martin is going to go out as quietly as I originally thought. It's possible that Martin knows he messed up hiring RR, and he's not going to allow that to be his legacy (make no mistake, it will be if he goes quietly). If Martin wants to avoid this, he may fire Rodriguez so he can hire another football coach and have another shot at cementing his legacy. If Bill Martin is convinced that RR can't turn Michigan around he will fire him and pick somebody else, in sort of a selfish "I'm not going to allow a new AD to destroy what I wanted to leave" kind of way...

The only problem is is that I'm not sure if tOSU's offense is good enough to deliver a serious asspounding. I can see them covering, but I don't think they're good enough to hang 40 on scUM. They've only topped 40 once this year (New Mexico State).

Wait just a minute...you think that a vote of confidence from those people means that DickRod will definitely be around for next season? When's the last time you paid close attention to a firing? That's the kiss of death for a coach.

Exactly.
When is the last time Bob Kraft came out with a public vote of confidence in Bill Belichick? Uh never. I'm pretty sure Mark Hollis isn't publicly supporting Dantonio this week saying his job is safe. Only the coaches on the hottest of seats get "public votes of confidence."

Usually 7-10 days before they get ****-canned.

It's not necessarily about the final score. I'd say they "azz pounded" Penn St without hanging 40 on them.

Far be it for me to agree with Desmond Howard, but he said something to the effect that unless RR chokes Tate Forcier tomorrow, he'll be back for a third year.
Rest easy, Spartan fans. Rodriguez will be around for 2010.
