Some Telling Quotes from Dantonio on the Team and Staff Today
Just looked at the official MSU site for game quotes... I found some of the things said verrrrrrrrrry interesting.
From
We took a step forward I guess by having it tie at halftime, but the end of the game is the bottom line. We play a game for 60 minutes and we didn't get it done tonight. When you look at why, it starts with the head coach first of all, and then runs down to the assistant coaches. We have to ask ourselves if we did the right things schematically offensively, defensively and on special teams. That would be number one, and two would be asking ourselves what we did during the game in terms of calls and making decisions. The third thing is execution because we have to be able to execute out on the football field.
I said before, that emotions are very important in this game, and when you think you can you probably can. But all the sudden when it feels like a wave is rolling over your shoulder and things get tough to do out there, it becomes harder. This was a game of confidence, and you have to credit Penn State because they are an excellent football team - and an excellent defensive football team because they tackle very effectively, play the ball in the deep part of the field, and get pressure with four players. When those things happen it puts you behind the ball a little bit and you have to find away to work your way out of there.
Something tells me Coach D is more than just a little PO'd about how this season has played out...If there is a silver lining to this season.. I have to believe. is NOT happy and will NOT let this stand!

When MD said he was happy at halftime, I knew we were toast.

Agreed. He could easily replace the word "game" in that first paragraph with "season". Some serious self-evaluation is needed by the entire coaching staff.

Are they all "Spartans in name only", like Suton, Walton and the MSU BBall assistant coaches?

I think this staff is arrogant in their approach. You want them to be confident, but at some point, you have to admit it when it's not working. Several examples this year, the pass defense, the QB rotation, our joke of a depth chart... they treated way too much of this season like it was practice. Which is exactly what lost us the CMU game, and trashed our season.
I'm not calling for anyone's head, but I want the staff to know that next season it's time to deliver or else. Show some damn urgency, and prove that winning the damn game is the most important thing to you, not getting everyone a participation ribbon.

Ozy...that was Suton, Neitzel and Morgan.. and btw after three horrific games by those three against weaker opponents against two bottom dweller teams and a team playing 7 freshmen...more importantly..THAT WAS THREE SEASONS AGO...AND WITH A BBALL TEAM expected to be TOP Tier Nationally.... .Give it up already!!! and btw..those three deserved worse than what they got from me.....and I'm sure Izzo gave it to them too.. Don't blow smoke up my shorts and claim he didn't or that those performances in that stretch were just fine. He was 10x more pissed about those three as anyone on the board after those three games...including me.
And btw.. look at the damn post would you.... All I did here was copy Dantonio's quotes. I didn't say it.. He did.

I was very mad at the game. Watching the RB run out of the set and be wide open down the field. It was ugly to watch.

our secondary, Defense and Oline all need to be looked at. Oline I'm a little more flexible with because a lot of those guys are either JLS guys or young but to many times this year our QB's have been sacked/hit/hurried because guys just get flat beaten. And our run blocking never improved (imo) all year.
Secondary has issues and next year will be even worse. Defense I don't know but whatever the **** Narduzzi was doing he needs to stop. He really needs to un**** his way of thinking because it's not getting the job done. Hell my wife who isn't a big football fan was watching the Purdue game last week and asked me why on 3rd and 2 our guys were 10 yards off.

Could be worse. He could be Dick Rod and say he needs better players, throwing his team under the bus.

So I'm not the only one. When I heard that and also Joe Pa's quote that they need to throw the ball more it was time.

Not so sure about that.
Dantonio was surprised we were picked as preseason #3 in the Big Ten. Not only that, but he set our goal for this season as "winning a bowl game", which he was probably thinking in the back of his mind could be applied as a positive during an otherwise average season (playing in a "crappy" bowl and winning)

All md has to do to keep his job is win 6 games and go to a bowl game. Not hard to do since there are now billions of bowl games. The fanbase is so used losing it will accept mediocrity and reward his staff with bonuses.

Well, you're probably wrong about one thing, Mr. Tanfan. If we go to a po-dunk bowl as seems likely and lose, giving us a losing season, the administration will be unhappy. I think then MD will be on a hot seat: give us a winning season and a good bowl game next year or we'll start looking...

Never a easy thing to do
When changes need to made, MD know he has to do something with Narduzzi, he not only has been horrible this year but take a look from the beginning, he is over his head. Can't get rid of Treadwell he is the god father of his kid.

Like it or not, nothing is changing through 2011. My guess is that we will perform at an acceptable level, and MD will be here for a long time. The Jimmys and Joes are going to be a lot better the next two years.

My only problem with Treadwell is his redzone offense. He is just too damn conservative... run run pass.
Putting up points was not our problem this year, and it wont be a problem for the next few years (Cousins and the F Rb's will continue to get better).
Poor Secondary play, POOR TACKLING, and an inability to get off the feild on 3rd down, have doomed this team.
All that aside, we are in a bowl game. As long as continues to make bowl games, I will be rather pleased.
This is the year we should get a bowl win, and with the talent coming in (Shofner, Gholston, Hicks), and the huge RS freshman class, I have high hopes for next season.

That's right. Only pre-season to BCS #1 rankings, a perfect 13-0 season and national championship, and a margin of victory averaging more than 20 is acceptable.
