This is registered as a new MSU logo in the US Patent and Trademark office - what do you think??! Let's tell the University what the real fans/alumni think.

I know, I can't believe they are, but it just doesn't make sense. Regardless, whoever looked at that thing for whatever reason they are considering it, and thought it was worthy of "protecting" by spending thousands and thousands on patents/trademarks is INSANE and should be fired. Immediately.

its not bad. i can see where they want to make the old one look a little sharper, but they really shouldnt have taken out the spaces between the helmet and plume. that just looks awkward on the new one.

I believe that to maintain a trade mark you have to use the name or logo at least occassionally. That said I am going to guess this is purely a defensive move. Why would they make such a change? I could see changing and updating the uniforms before I could see changing this logo.

As much as I love the current one, I could even see some slight changes to make it meaner and more sleek, if that is what they want...however what they submitted is just bad I think. I can't wait to see what they were thinking....

Don't like it. The current logo has a cleaner look. And don't anyone get started on "historical accuracy." It's a freakin' logo! Do people at Wisconsin complain that real badgers don't wear letter sweaters and walk on two legs?
Having said that, I doubt that MSU is changing logos. I agree with others that it's probably a purely defensive move by the university.

But again, if it is just a defensive move, they have to actually use it to keep it valid, how does that work??!

They just have to use it in commerce, which means maybe they slap it on a couple t-shirts, it doesn't have to be the official logo or anything.
