MSU Red Cedar Message BoardMichigan State sports and other general MSU topics. The RCMB has been the No. 1 MSU fan site since it launched in 1995. It is the largest and most active MSU Spartans board on the web. "Please post as if your family were on the other computer."
I don't see this being that well attended...in December you can have some real nasty, cold weather...add in the fact many are attending family holiday parties, it's being held at the Big Hole, etc....meh. They won't break MSU's record.
"Their field is crowned much more than ours, so there's a lot more infrastructure needed here than will be needed at Michigan Stadium," Stevenson said. "We've got a fairly flat field. They had to specially cut the Styrofoam to meet the crown on the field. That's a lot more labor intensive. That's one thing we won't have to do that they had to do.
So it is true; UM does have a unique crown on their field.

I hope they sit me right smack in the middle of a bunch of scUM fans so I can do all their stupid chants and talk mad trash. I'll have plenty of liquid courage in me to stay warm

FTR, gotta love how the Wisconsin game was FAIL! Looks like our record will stand for yet another year...
I wouldn't necessarily call 55k+ a failure, but nice to see it did not live up to the bar we set!

Michigan officials are also still deciding how they will handle the distribution of tickets and where they will leave a section of tickets for Michigan State fans. U-M season ticket holders for football and hockey will be offered the chance to purchase tickets, as well as students.
They will never break the record if they don't open up a large section for MSU fans. The Cold War worked so well here because it was a roughly half-and-half crowd of MSU and UM fans.

Should MSU fans boycott this game in order to make sure we hold onto the record for highest attendance?
If so, we need to use the power of RCMB to get the ball rolling!

I take the other opinion. This game involves MSU. If it breaks the record, MSU was in both of the top two games. If it comes just short, same statement.
And even if umAA fans can say the same thing, they'll have to 'splain why their game in Madtown was so far back in 3rd place.
And why are you boycotting the game? I don't think your answer will be very flattering to yourself.

I agree. MSU will still have the record no matter where the game was played. Not going to cheer on the Spartans just because you want SS to hold the record just comes off as petty imo.
I don't think you have to worry about attendance records or boycotts. It won't break the record because outdoor hockey is a novelty and the majority of the people they're trying to attract already saw outdoor hockey in a football stadium in the state of michigan once and realize that watching hockey from that far away sucks. you go once because its the cool thing to do, but to have to go to that stinking hell hole ann abor to have to do it again? no thanks.
your walmart wolverine cares even less about hockey than he does about that joke of a basketball team they roll out there. Unless they have $5 tickets they won't come close to the record.

They will offer $5 tickets to every youth hockey organization in the state to break the record if they have to.
Wisky's plan to break the record when away when the WCHA took Minnesota out of the equation.

What are crowds at Munn averaging, 5,000?
If people don't want to drive 5 miles to see MSU in Munn, I see no reason to drive 50 more miles to see them in the 'big toilet.'
Boycott it.

More like 4,700, and that's with a barrage of $10 tickets, free hot dogs, and family four-packs. I know it's the worst it's been since 1979.
Meanwhile, UM is getting SRO sell-outs for meaningless Tuesday and Thursday games against Bowling Green, and are drawing solid numbers for exhibitions against CIS opponents and tNTDP.
I could see them not only shattering our record (if the price is right), but having a stadium that's nothing but yellow.
