LSJ - Turnovers doom MSU in 24-21 bowl loss

ORLANDO, Fla. -- If a long layoff affected anyone from Michigan State, it must have been junior quarterback Brian Hoyer. Hoyer had the worst night of his career Friday in the Champs Sports Bowl, with four interceptions and a fumble, killing MSU's chances of upsetting No. 14 Boston College. The Eagles won 24-21, holding on after Hoyer's second touchdown pass -- plus a two-point conversion -- got the Spartans within three. MSU finishes its first season under coach Mark Dantonio with a 7-6 record.
