LSJ - In the spirit

11 A.M. - Today, you're bound to see crowds gathering and cheering for beer pong, mini-football scrimmages and even the sack toss at the Spartans game.. One crowd gathered just for margaritas. Janet and Barry, two 1966 Michigan State University alums -- "back when football was good," Barry says, wearing a green-and-white football helmet -- have been tailgating for about 10 years. They're here at the corner of Shaw Lane and Red Cedar Road with a green minivan (license plate: Spar T) full of various-sized green bins marked clearly: "Spirits," "Plasticware," "Green flags," "Spices and Oil." In the "Tailgator," a custom-made green and white blender, the crowd cheered Barry on while he mixed up the goods. Janet, wearing a green-and-white feather boa and green feathered hat, took over serving duties, pouring the mix into plastic shooters. "I'm from State, my husband's from State, our four sons all graduated from State and they met their wives at State," she says, taking a break from pouring for their guests. "So, we're green."
