Newspaper story MLive - Spartans and Wolverines were wrong to not hire Brian Kelly

Now, the two teams and their fan bases might have to watch Kelly work his magic next year at Notre Dame, since Charlie Weis likely will be done after this season.

BK would not have worked at MSU. I agree he could have been good for UM though. Maybe they can still get him.

Dammit. Can a mod change the headline to say "Huge says..." I would have never opened it if I knew Brian Kelly's leghumper wrote it.

Former Central Michigan Football Players Sentenced to Jail Time :: Two players plead no contest to attempted assault with a dangerous weapon in beating death of a man

This is why neither school would(or should) hire him. Those are kinds of kids he recruits... ie win on the football field, no need to be accountable off of it

"Kelly could have won multiple national titles at MSU."

What?!?! In the three years that MD has been here, BK would've won multiple national titles here at state? That's THE most ******ed thing I've ever seen someone even begin to consider.

I don't want Brian Kelly. Never have, and never will.

I know people who played for him at Grand Valley, I have friends who played for him at Central, and another friend who was a student manager at Central. Take that for what it's worth but by all accounts the guy is an absolute dick, cares nothing about the welfare of his players off the field, and his only concern is winning football games at any cost. I can't argue about the guy's track record at all of his stops, no question he wins wherever he goes, but I don't want a guy at our school who completely ignores his player's academics and their character development. Neither does Lou Anna K. Simon, and that is why she hired Dantonio. People forget, Dantonio was our first choice.

No need to debate Kelly's credentials, or his ability. The main and only reason that
it was correct to not hire him at MSU was that it would have been a stepping stone
for him. If he did well......he's off to Notre Dame or any other perceived "better gig".
in year 4 for sure. Then we start all over again....Coaching instability is the number one reason MSU has had 40 years of mediocrity. Number two is the turmoil between the administration and athletic department. Now we have an administration and athletic department on the same page and a coach who was a good, not great short term hire.....but has the potential to be a great long term hire. No long term upside for Kellly at MSU.
