Went home for the UM-
MSU game, flew in Friday, flew out Sunday. Wore green in the airport at Metro, and got comments/smiles from two people in the TSA/security line. (More than I've gotten in close to 20 years in New Hampshire, although no grand shock.)
I have been practicing law for about 17 years, starting out in general practice with an emphasis on litigation, specializing more and more over the years in criminal defense. It's good work and I like it, but I also am beginning to feel that I am using the same 10% of my brain over and over again. I think it's time for a change of scenery, both regionally and vocationally.
Add to it that my parents are getting older and developing more and more health problems as the years go on. They live in Battle Creek, and I'd like to be closer to them.
So. What is there available in Michigan (please stop laughing) for someone whose relevant experience is in law, and who doesn't particularly want to be a lawyer anymore? My degrees are in JMCD (Justice, Morality, & Constitutional Democracy, what James Madison used to call PTCD) and French. Will go anywhere within shouting distance of Battle Creek, including places like Cleveland and Chicago. Ideal would be within an hour of Battle Creek, so I could commute daily and still see my parents often. (Not to mention the occasional Spartan game.)
This is a complete shot in the dark at a tremendous low point in Michigan's economic history, I grant you. If you have any ideas, I would appreciate either a response or a PM (either is fine).
Thanks in advance.
