Nut filter: 9/11 "Inside Job."
In the midst of exposing donnyrotten, I thought of a way to make posting much more streamlined. It occurs to me that it would be easier to expose the insane if I came up with a simple litmus test.
Here it is: Everyone who thinks 9/11 was an "inside job," please let me know.
It will make posting much easier in the future.
Thanks.

Prominent scientist calls 9/11 'false-flag operation'
A prominent American scientist, Dr. Lynn Margulis, has called the events of September 11, 2001 “this new false-flag operation, which has been used to justify the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq as well as unprecedented assaults on research, education, and civil liberties”.
Dr. Margulis was elected to the National Academy of Sciences in 1983 and served as Chairman of the Academy’s Space Science Board Committee on Planetary Biology and Chemical Evolution. In 1999, President Bill Clinton presented Dr. Margulis with the National Medal of Science, America's highest honor for scientific achievement.

Related: Outspoken Arizona Senator Questions 9/11 Official Version Of Events
An Arizona state Senator who went public with questions over the official government version of events on 9/11 has provided further details of her position and why she chose to make her views known.
“I guess I define myself as a truth seeker, that is what I want, I want to find the truth.” says Senator Karen Johnson, representative of Mesa’s District 18 for nearly two decades.
In an short interview (see video below), the Republican Senator explained that in the many in the Arizona legislature have privately told her they agree with her position but are too afraid or are unable to start asking the same questions themselves. Johnson echoed her previous statements when she told Capitol reporters “There are many of us that believe there’s been a cover-up.”
“There are so many unanswered questions regarding 9/11 and there never ever would have even been a Commission called for by Mr Bush and the Federal Government if it hadn’t have been for the Jersey Girls.” Johnson said, referring to the activist group of widowed mothers and wives from New Jersey and New York who have continued to question the events of 9/11.
“When Bush appointed Henry Kissinger, of all people, to head up that Commission, those Jersey Girls asked for a press conference with him. They went in there and started asking him about all his ties with the Bin Laden family… and he backed down.” She continued.
Senator Johnson was attacked by the media for voicing her questions over 9/11 last week in the midst of a controversial debate concerning a 9/11 memorial in Arizona which contains phrases and thoughts of residents there.
The Arizona state Senate voted on legislation concerning what sort of remembrance phrases the 9/11 Memorial should include. The legislation would have extracted some locutions that were critical of the U.S. and the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
A vote in the Senate Appropriations Committee had the measure passing narrowly - until it came to Johnson, whose vote against changing the memorial’s phrases created a tie, killing the legislation for now.
As Johnson explains in the video, the monument was privately funded, placed on privately owned land with no State involvement. Therefore, in her opinion, the State should not claim authority over what appears on the monument, and should not claim to preside over people’s opinions of the 9/11 attacks.
As shown in the video below, some of the phrases also hint at government prior knowledge of the attacks and the backing off of the intelligence agencies in the months prior to 9/11. Thanks to Karen Johnson these will remain on the monument for now.
“Who are we as a legislature to tell these private folks what they can and can’t do with that monument?” Johnson commented.
Watch the Interview with Karen Johnson:

You seem to be frothing and foaming more than usual.
I really hope you'll understand if I don't spend any time worrying about guys changing their name.
If someone is that silly, don't expect me to keep up with it.
If spending enough time on a message board to be able to recognize patterns of psychosis is "smart," then I am a proud moron.
Got it, "smart" guy?

Do you have ANY idea who Lynn Margulis is?? Do you know what her area of expertise is? She IS a brilliant scientist but not someone I would use to support your argument about the events of 9/11. She may be right but the fact that she is a "prominent" scientist isn't the reason. Everyone has a right to their opinion but believing something to be true or not true doesn't make it so.

Personally, I prefer the nut-barometer of climate change - and folks whose entire scientific training amounts to taking an ISB course from a safety school taught by a grad assistant from Lithuania, thinking that by reading a couple of conservative blogs they are capable of dismissing the collective knowledge of the entire scientific research community.

I prefer people who are honest. If they make a mistake, they live up to it. I do not care for people who level charges, are proven false, then fail to man up.
You know, like you accusing me of making cheap political points at the expense of "50,000 Chinese dead."

You made(this thread) the stupid premise that ALL people who dont support the weak govt lie are nutcases.
This lady, among thousands, actually millions of other well educated people can easily see through the very thin verneer of the official lie.
The difference with her is, she has no problem publically stating it.
The biggest problem with 9/11 truth isnt the overwhelming scientific evidence arrayed against the official story, its the fact that somehow, people think the govt incapable of doing such a thing.
Each day that goes by buttresses the fact they are more than capable.

I propose a different "nut filter"
Those who believe an operational link between Saddam Hussein and Al-Qaeda has been factually proven.
That is as legitimate a filter as the 9/11 being an inside job statement.
Someone please cut and paste this post into their own so that polynikes can see it and request that he tells us all his stance on it. He has me on ignore because I punked his ass with reality too often for him to handle.

I (in response to your post) did not call anyone a nutcase. The person who started this thread made that accusation but I prefer not to stoop to silly name calling. I simply pointed out the fallacy of your argument that any prominent scientist making the same argument as you validates your point. I happen to be a big fan of Lynn Margulis and her work and have had the honor of speaking with her on several occasions. As I pointed out, everyone has a right to their opinion and I greatly respect hers, particularly in her area of expertise but I don't consider her the appropriate expert to support the concept that 9/11 is an "inside job".
I've tended to stay out of these 9/11 discussions because I don't have the time to follow every conspiracy theory and the counter arguments to make a sound argument one way or the other. I only jumped into the fray because a fellow biologist was cited. But I do have opinions and here is where I stand on the issue. I agree there is a massive cover-up but it does not mean to me that the events were an "inside job". I believe the lies are attempts to hide their complete incompetence. We should certainly be investigating these lies and finding out what they are covering up but I don't believe it will unveil an "inside job". I don't subscribe to the notion that questioning something means it is entirely wrong. Questioning is how science is done. Generally, it does not lead to a complete negation of our previous understanding, simply a refinement. I also don't believe that just because millions of people "believe" something it is true. I think it's safe to say there are millions of people who believe W is a good president - does that make it true?
Most of the "scientific evidence" I have seen presented is negative data. A lack of data to support something doesn't make it false. If just making a bunch of calculations is all the evidence we need, then why to we bother doing experiments? The best structural engineers can and do make mistakes. Another false argument I see a lot is "it looks like X so it must be X". I would recommend two very good books about how we are easily fooled by rare events and how we assign false meaning to events leading up to a rare event. Both are by Nassim Nicholas Taleb. The first is called "Fooled by Randomness" and the second is "The Black Swan". The possibility of rare events is why science is so dependent on repetition. We see a lot of strange, unexplained things happen if we only do an experiment once.
