last winter, after back peddling on his negative comments regarding the hiring of JLS, Ferguson said he expects the team to win 10 games this year. Why? Because of the solid foundation BW built here over the last three years! Seriously. If MSU has a great season, ie wins more the seven games, expect to read a quote from Ferguson saying BW deserves some of the credit....

Somebody at MSU needs to show Joel the ticket receipts for all of the games that we supposedly jumped off the bandwagon.
-or-
In Joels world the athletic department is in financial crisis because ten of thousands of tickets went unsold while we were off of the bandwagon.
Things were going too well, and something negative just had to be written about MSU. Old MIP had already been reported as a "new" crises, so what is left? Get a quote from Joel!! He still thinks Bobby was a great coach and still should be the head coach, he'll give us some great quotes! Eureka!

Ferguson said Smith benefited by being able to hire the coaches he wanted (Williams inherited Nick Saban's staff).
|
Oh please. $aban's staff was pretty well thought of when Williams took over. At the time we were all glad they stuck around instead of jumping ship, and took it as a good sign for the new regime.

Dave Dye ( is the biggest loser for interviewing this moron.
State fan is NOT a bandwagon fan. 31 sellouts for 5-6 program is proof of that.

True dat. And if those assistants under Booby were so bad, why didn't he show some cahones and get rid of them instead of keeping them around? Gee, could it be that Booby didn't have a clue who was a good coach and who was a lousy coach?

I will run against Joel Ferguson for the Board of Trustees position if you guys are really that serious about replacing him.

I will. I will. If dumbya can be president, I will throw my hat into the political circle. Freakin' season tickets to everything. Prolly all expenses included. Of course I don't know the first thing about funding a super cyclotrinic excellerator partical blaster deal-e-do. But if Ferguson can wing it, I can figure it out. But then again he is a multimillionaire land developer. So whatever.

Can we have a pep rally before the U-M game and burn Joel Ferguson at the stake? Where do we get a permit for that?

Will there be girls showing their ta-ta's there? If so, the ELPD would have a problem, otherwise if it was just a good ol' fashioned burning an ****** at the stake, I'm sure if would be pretty easy to get a permit.

Do we blame Joel or do we blame the lazy reporter and editor who let this tripe into the paper. Ron Mason has done a good job of creating distance between the MSU AD office and Trustee Ferguson. After the BW debacle Joel tried to force Marvin Lewis on MSU to continue the Ferguson hand in MSU football. JLS is Joel's worst nightmare. Smith is winning with BW's players. The players aren't shy about talking about the difference in coaching styles and the results.
Joel is all about Joel. Always has been, always will be. Joel became a trustee to add another impressive title to his resume. That helps when applying for US government business loans and FCC broadcast licenses. After he gets the FCC approval, he sells the stations making $$$.
He uses his trustee he has ever held to further himself regardless of what's left in the wake. While I'm not a huge fan of any individual members, the other trustees seem to want to work as a board rather than seeking the star spotlight.

Man Joel!, you make it damn near impossible to cut you any slack!
Your comments remind me of the Chicago Bear fans who dissed their fans for booing them in their home opener v. GB.
Show me a program in this country that has been as mediocre W/L wise as MSU's over the last 35 years and get the kind of support MSU fans provide our programs.
Look at Illinios! They won a freaking Big Ten C in 2000 and can't get 45,000 people in their stadium....TALK ABOUT BANDWAGON JUMPERS! ..Joel, you are a jock sniffing, media pimping jag bag and always seem to do your little part to bring discredit to MSU somehow...even when it takes an effort to do so.....I defended you in the past but you are way off base in this case and don't deserve to represent MSU in any capacity.....IMHO.
p.s .,the fact I don't see one post here defending you or trying to put a positive spin on your "bandwagon comment should tell you something.....

No girls showing hooters. It is too tough getting the sheet all the way up.
How do we explain it's nothing racial, he's just an idiot?

Joel Ferguson initially made his money by being the minority front contractor for large construction companies in their attempts to secure government contracts. He is a smart but very mediocre, politico who is being promoted and quoted by the media because he is a bully who has learned to intimidate his adversaries by impliedly using an accusatory threat of racial discrimination against those with whom he disagrees. The man figured out how to work the system and realized that the image/presence of a successful minority entreprenuer was intimidating to most white businessmen of his and older generations. He realized early on that impliedly threatening to play the race card was his greatest leverage. He knew/knows that if he ever actually played/plays the card, without any real basis in fact, his leverage will be essentially lost The generation of business people who have followed Mr. Ferguson do not appear to be as susceptible to intimidation by the presence of a successful minority and, as a result, Mr. Fergusons effectiveness is beginning to decline. Joel has achieved great success and many accomplishments, very few of which appear to have been for the public good.

I think for the same reasons they don't go after frauds like Jessee Jackson etc. They don't want to be perceived as contributing to the fall of a successful minority businessman. News papers perceive themselves, and want the public to perceive them, as fair and socially attentive organizations that carry the good of the community on their shoulders. I think they view Ferguson as being a political power broker and meeting their social criteria as a successful minority role modle. He hasn't committed any crimes and they evidently feel that the community is better served havng a successful african american as a role modle as opposed to a fallen/disgraced black man. The only problem with that theory is that all Joel has really ever done is attempt to set up his own little fifedom to serve his own needs and not the needs of the community.
