Dave Dye is lazy and shiftless. He can barely put a column together so he must resort to the lazy beat reporter toolbox and call up up; the easy quote.
Joel is the poster boy for any douching product.

That is a great line!!!!
Why, why, why would a paper interview a person with such credentials about MSU's turn-around season?!?!?!? Because he sold his bowl rings, he has NO BUSINESS EVER commenting on bandwagon fans. It is like playing golf durning the MSU-ND game and also being happy that you can play golf every Saturday this season, and then the team wins some games and you act like you have been right there on the bandwagon the whole time. :D
MSU officials have said and done some stupid things over the years, but this has to be the most unwarranted thing ever said. By the way, Izzo is lazy and JLS has no personality.
So MSU fans, we have thrown out all of the remnants of the feudalistic regimes of the past, but we still have one more arch-duke to get rid of. Then we can finally get back to kicking arse instead of wasting our time with power struggles and **** measurements.

Right Rob, and don't forget
the liberal leanings of the media and a natural kinship with Ferguson by J. Hill, D. Sharp and particularly T. Foster. Thius crap doesn't happen by chance.
Dye is just a wimpsuck-up Michael Moore wannabe.

Dwags, you don't cut him slack and
you can't take him with a grain of salt. Why? Because when his sideshow goes public MSU becomes the sideshow. He did it in Ron Mason's first search, but Ron held firm and made Ferguson look like the knucklehead he is. So, Joel went into the shadows like the Phantom of the Opera to see how it all worked out. He waited until he knew he was on the wrong side and then he came back into the sunlight.
Too late Joel, this train left the station and you're not on it. It's surprising given all that he has done to hold this University back that he has the gall to show up at the stadium on a Saturday. He's like Perles, he must feel there is still something for him to loot from the Spartan nation or he wouldn't come around.
The good news, he isn't young.

The man figured out how to work the system and realized that the image/presence of a successful minority entreprenuer was intimidating to most white businessmen of his and older generations. He realized early on that impliedly threatening to play the race card was his greatest leverage. He knew/knows that if he ever actually played/plays the card, without any real basis in fact, his leverage will be essentially lost The generation of business people who have followed Mr. Ferguson do not appear to be as susceptible to intimidation by the presence of a successful minority and, as a result, Mr. Fergusons effectiveness is beginning to decline. Joel has achieved great success and many accomplishments, very few of which appear to have been for the public good.

What bowl and what year's rings did he try to sell on Ebay?
Basic note to Dye that I'm sending:
As a recent alumnus of MSU, I am hoping in the future that Joel Ferguson is not interviewed at any time when it deals in any way with Michigan State University athletics. It would be nice to see him quoted on something other than athletics while on the Board of Directors at MSU.
His recent 'Bandwagon' comment in one of your recent articles is especially misleading, since he is a person that sold his Rose Bowl Championship rings on EBAY a few years ago.

I agree with you, but at least mention the correct rings: 1990 John Hancock Bowl and 1993 Liberty Bowl.

I am continually as embarrassed and as disgusted by Joel's behavior as anyone else here, but I also wonder if you folks understand the undertaking that would be necessary to unseat him next year. Joel is an old school Democratic, backroom politician with connections galore and a substantial personal fortune. Not to mention it would take many of you doing something you may not particularly like to get him out - voting Republican. An independent candidate CAN NOT win a Trustee spot at one of the Big Three universities because the power and money behind each particular party is simply too much to overcome.
What could we do to at least give Joel a run for his money? IMHO, the first step would be to start some type of letter/email writing campaign to the state Republican party explaining the MSU community's problems with him and encouraging the party to nominate a substantial candidate against him. The letters should also pledge the two most important political commodities: 1) time and 2) money. If this is anything more than griping, we must be willing to donate both volunteer time next year during the campaign of Candidate X and also donate our dollars.
Sorry for the rant, but I know the uphill battle that would be necessary. I, for one, am willing to help but it would take a massive commitment by many more of us to make even a dent in Joel's vote totals next year.

Anne Norlander (Calhoun County clerk) is electable with the right support. There are a few other candidates that I am trying to think of right now but remember, the state parties select these candidates at their conventions. So, they have to be able to get through that political quagmire before they ever reach the ballot.

Thanks for the correction. I didn't send the email yet for that exact reason. I wasn't sure of which rings he was trying to sell!

PS, when you do send it, let the News/Freep know that I am running against Joel F. MSU grad, DCL grad, non ring seller. That in itself is a better resume than J. Furg's.

No but I have known and followed Mr. Ferguson's career since the mid 70's. I am close with many people who are close with him and have been the recipient of a lot of info over the years. Joel is no different many other high profile and financially successful people. Once you get to know them you find out that most of them are narcissistic with a history of self dealing and manipulation. I know it's a generalization but as history is revealed it seems to be true about many who make the climb from the bottom to the top. Joel has done very well and has permitted many to follow him. For that he should be admired. Yet the methodology he has employed leaves a great deal to be desired

Just wanted to update this. I sent an email to that douche-bag Ferguson asking why he considers MSU fans bandwagon fans and that he please make a formal apology to all Spartan fans everywhere. And when the team goes to a bowl game, he can stay home so he doesn't have to hang around all those bandwagon fans and avoid temptation of selling anymore rings on ebay.
Of course, this chicken**** never replied so he is still a douche-bag.
F you, Joel!!!

Nothing worse then having a UM fan quote you Joel Ferguson. That hurts.
This guy is not a Spartan-he is a self serving career politician who would sacrifice MSU in way if it helped himself.
Please keep this in mind during the next election. Hopefully he has started to put his foot in his mouth enough where people will take notice of what he truly is.

Just for ****'s and giggles I Googled Joel Ferguson. This thread came up like #5 on the list
BOTTOM LINE: Ferguson needs to be voted out in '08. We need to begin to find tRCMB's candidate to go head-to-head against the doosh.
Can we get tanfan to move back to Michigan?

I really dont think you do, Iggy...I think your hatred of Perles and Ferguson is clouding your judgment...Both of these 2 trustees support different candidates...You know who Perles supports (former MSU player, academic all-american, graduate assistant, assistant coach) Pat Shurmur...but who does Joel support?
