Joel Ferguson is still a douche-bag
Another piece about MSU's resurgence in football and who do they get for a quote, none other than that piece of crap, Joel Ferguson.
Quote:
|
"Michigan Staters are the greatest bandwagon jumpers ever invented," said Joel Ferguson, an MSU board of trustees member, laughing."
|
F off Joel, who's the one who said that Booby shouldn't have been fired and then questioned JLS?
What a piece of crap.

In the Detroit Snooze. He's quoted extensively throughout this article. Seems some lazy journalist couldn't find anyone else to talk to about the team so it was like a Q and A piece with JF.
Joel Ferguson is a piece of crap

Ferguson was critical of President Peter McPherson for the firing of Bobby Williams last year, and also initially questioned the hiring of Smith. But Ferguson said he's put his differences aside and is showing support for the new coach.
Sounds like ferguson the assclown is the bandwagon jumper in this case.

What else did you expect him to say... I was wrong and John L. is a very good fit for MSU...
What does he have to say about his buddy Ty and how bad Notre Dame is doing??? Wasn't he disappointed that Ty did not come to State??

Need a Board of Trustee
resolution which provides that Joel ferguson is gagged, and unable to speak to any media outlet regarding Michigan State Athletics. He would, of course, have to agree to this formal resolution freely. If he didn't then at least the record would exist.
The reason for this is simple. Trustee's are suppposed to have the best interests of the University at their heart. They should say nothing that could be remotely inurious to the University. MSU relies heavily upon contributions to support its entire athletic program. For a trustee to be quoted in the largest daily paper in the state asserting that MSU alumni "are the biget bandwagon jumpers ever invented, well you tell me how that carries out a Trustees' mandate?
The facts just don't support Ferguson. Thirty-one sellouts and an attendance record since 1970 that has been in the tope twenty every season without exception. If you want a direct comparison let's look at Illinois. Having gone to the Rose Bowl and having won the Big Ten just a few years ago there are more than 25,000 seasts available (unsold) for the game with MSU this coming Saturday. If we had 25,000 unsold you're look at a major plague and all of our athletic programs would be shutdown. Why would he say such crap. Well I'm gonna tell ya why. It's not about MSU, it's not about fairness, it's still about firing a black man that didn't do his job. It's about not hiring a black man that didn't want to be here. It's about the fact that now the doucheman of Ingham county looks like the buffoon we know him to be. And, as Edith Ann used to say, that is the truth. Gag him, I say shut him to hell up and all of MSU will be better off.

Since it says that joel made his peace with jls the day he got here, I think joel was referring to himself in this quote (wanting Bobby) and the article was written badly.
Not apologizing for him or anything...

All of you whiners won't remember Ferguson in November when you pull the D lever in the next election. You are the people that keep electing this man to the board.

Problem is convincing all of the people in Detroit, who have no interest in MSU, that their voting straight ticket is screwing up the school.

I have a feeling that he will still be quoted in the paper after he gets out of office. He's the type the press will quote just to rile the public (all of you) up.

What really happened with Joel Ferguson and JLS? Well, what happened was, that soon after JLS got here, Ferguson and him got into it and JLS wouldn't back down one bit. In fact, he won't back down to anyone on the Board of Trustees and why should he. He quickly claimed his ground and Ferguson had no choice to shutup and accept it. (True story)
Face it, Ferguson doesn't like Mason or JLS but what choice does he have at this point. I am not quite sure if there is another school in the Big 10 that the Board messes around with athletics as closely as people like Ferguson get involved with it. It is BS and besides for pushing for Izzo, he has completely lost it.

What else pisses me off about Ferguson is that he is so quick to jump all over the Ath. Dept. about letting Booby go and the hiring of JLS, but he'll be the first one in line for a trip to wherever the team goes for a bowl game. He doesn't give one damn about MSU, the only thing he cares about is himself.
Damn, MF'er!!!
F Joel Ferguson!

With Tom Izzo being an exception, Ferguson hates white people in general.
for Ferguson because BW lost his job and he didn't get his way...

I would like to see Joel name the schools that have a more loyal, less bandwagon fan base then MSU because I sure as heck can't think of one.

It's something I point out all the time, especially down here in Buckeyeland. Despite the mediocre and disastrous seasons, we have sold out 31 straight and the 39th in the last 44 games. That says something about the fan base most certainly. I feel like giving Ferguson a dirtnap after his statement.
Undoubtedly, he is making that comment because he feels like everyone abandoned Booby, therefore making us bandwagon jumpers. **** that! The guy single handedly destroyed a football program.

With each victory, a few more people are jumping on the bandwagon.
"Michigan Staters are the greatest bandwagon jumpers ever invented," said Joel Ferguson, an MSU board of trustees member, laughing.
Ferguson was critical of President Peter McPherson for the firing of Bobby Williams last year, and also initially questioned the hiring of Smith. But Ferguson said he's put his differences aside and is showing support for the new coach.
"We made our peace the day after he got here," Ferguson said. "There's no question he's an excellent football coach."
Ferguson said a major difference from last year is the performance of four standout players -- Smoker, who was suspended last season for a substance-abuse problem; Taplin, who had some disciplinary issues; linebacker Mike Labinjo, who was overweight before losing more than 20 pounds; and receiver Agim Shabaj, who was injured.
"Those three guys have now matured," Ferguson said of Smoker, Taplin and Labinjo, all seniors. "They're a year older. The coach helped them grow up. Their failures last year helped them grow up. They all cleaned up their acts. They have got talent. The talent was wasted last year."
Ferguson said Smith benefited by being able to hire the coaches he wanted (Williams inherited Nick Saban's staff). Ferguson said he also thinks Smith made a smart move by selecting the captains himself. Last year's captains have been criticized for their on- and off-the-field troubles.
"(Smith) recognized what went wrong last year and plugged those holes up," Ferguson said.
Whereas last year's team became "deflated" by some early-season losses, "these kids are inflated," Ferguson said.
"They're not going anywhere but up," Ferguson said. "Last year's team didn't believe they can win (after some tough setbacks). This team is just the opposite."
|
Bandwagon jumpers? Not an accurate statement... MSU fans don't jump to another team once the Spartans are down.. yes we get down on our own team pretty easily but we definately stay loyal.
Major differences would be Smoker, Labinjo, Taplin, and Shabaj. Okay, lets see here, Smoker and Taplin were both out of control... thanks to Bobby Williams not having control of his team or players. Labinjo was overweight... true, why? Because Bobby and staff decided he should bulk up and play the middle and more DPR. Shabaj? WE HAD CHARLES ROGERS!!!! Shabaj was like the number 3 or 4 option on that team... if BJ Lovett performed at all, or Ziel we wouldn't have had to burn Shabaj's shot at a redshirt.
Lastly, WHY THE HELL IS FERGUSON BEING INTERVIEWED ABOUT FOOTBALL? When was the last time he coached a game, played in a game, broadcasted a game or did anyting more than WATCH a game? How is this man the authority on MSU sports. Why not interview Mason, Lewandowski, Izzo or Pat McCauliff for crissakes?
